PL-E Pro 445nm 2w Review
Thanks for the warm welcome to the community. Here is my first review. I’ll break it down into sections and give each section a rating from 1-10. Also, I was unaware of this great guy Gray you speak of here until after the purchase. I’m sure I’ll consult him next on my next purchase. Here we go!
PURCHASE:
The website and ordering was pretty easy. Easy to navigate, easy to select items, and plenty of information about the device. I had a few questions about whether the battery extension came with it, or if it was an add on. But since there wasn’t a menu for it, I assumed it came standard. Also, not an option for the mechanical or the code switch, but not too big of a deal because I preferred the mechanical. Over all I give this a 9/10.
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
I sent an email to jetlasers through their support link after a few days with no status change. The emailed me back within 12 hours informing me that it was on it’s way and should be here by the weekend. Fast response!
10/10
SHIPPING:
Ordered the laser on a Sunday, received it in the US on Thursday. Batteries arrived the day prior via Fedex. Enough said!
10/10
PACKAGING:
I’m pretty sure jetlasers must own a bubble wrap company on the side- this thing was wrapped tight (not complaining). Each piece was individually wrapped in what seemed to be anti-static packaging. The little plastic box was a standard plain box. I could probably store the laser if I broke it down and customized a foam insert, but I have no plans on doing that. No holster- not a big deal. I give the packaging a solid 9/10.
THE LASER:
Well, this thing is solid. The design of the host is very detailed and looks great. It feels like a solid peace of laser goodness in your hand. Also, this thing is pretty big. Without the extension, it’s still a few inches longer than my artic spyder III. I personally like it with the extension on, plus the battery life is much longer obviously with the increased milliamps. The crown is sharp and elegant, and I love the dust cover.
The focus mechanism is very smooth, but I have two gripes- one, the outer focus lines have no reference for infinity, two, the laser seems to come out of focus on it’s own. Dead center (lined up with the power lights and buttons) used to be what looked like infinity, but then I noticed one day that the laser was out of focus. I turned it counter-clockwise to focus it again, and now infinity was about five tick marks to the right of center. After a few solid full left and right turns, infinity goes back to center, but eventually goes out of focus again. Not the end of the world, but a little annoying.
I would have preferred the push button tail cap (the key tail cap said it was optional), but now after a few weeks with it, I like the key….until I lose it. So to prevent that, I attached it to a ring on the tail cap.
Overall, a very solid piece of art, even with a few minor gripes. The laser measures 2.111w on my laserbee. Very impressed. A great price for a 2+w laser. Because of the focus issue, I give the laser itself a solid 8/10 overall.
OVERALL:
Yes, I would recommend jetlasers to anyone who is considering buying from them. I plan on purchasing from them again, and will consult Gray if I have any questions. Please remember these are just my personal opinions and scores.
OVERALL TOTAL EXPERIENCE SCORE:
9.2/10
