I have owned many lasers over nearly twenty years and I must say the Equality series ranks among the best of them. Firstly, the customer service from Gray is absolutely first class; great communication and ultra fast shipping (China to UK in less than 3 days.) Jetlasers will certainly get my business again for the service alone.
Now for the laser itself; the Equality has a beautifully machined, weighty host with a sturdy cross section and a very durable feel. The fins on the front of the host provide in my eyes a sense of Oriental styling and come in handy for stabilising the unit when resting on a table top for example. The threading on the tailcap is silky smooth and the focusing action on the crown is also nicely weighted.
I opted for the 500mw unit which emits a reasonably tight, brilliant beam clearly visible in broad daylight. Side by side with my 1750mw 445 Arctic the 532 has a noticeably brighter beam. The laser lights matches and pops balloons with ease. I've yet to try other experiments but I am certain this will burn through white paper and the obligatory CD case with no problems. The duty cycle is recommended around 3 minutes on / 30 seconds off and up to 5 minutes in cooler conditions.
To summarise, a true quality piece of engineering that will give the enthusiast many years of reliable service!
Cheers,
Steve
