I got a chance to test one of Jayrob's new 605-G-1 lenses today.

See his whole posting about it here
http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/f...fication-fit-aixiz-25-increase-red-46332.html

The lens nut is the high quality we have come to expect from Jayrob. We are so spoiled! It is easily swapped out with the aiXiz module most of us are already using. You just unscrew the aiXiz and screw the Jayrob 605-G-1 lens in.

I used my personal red laser for the comparison. It is a Kryton Groove with a flexdrive set at 500mA. It has a Long Closed Can diode in it. My personal choice for lens before now was the Jayrob Merideth for aiXiz adapted lens.

As a reference for the review, I measured the laser with a stock aiXiz lens. With the stock aiXiz acrylic (back not opened) the output was 265mW

With my Merideth for aiXiz lens the output was 350mW

With the Jayrob 605-G-1 lens, the output was 350mW

The beam specs for the lens are virtually identical between the Merideth and the 605-G-1. The beam is "tight" and has the "line" we know so well.

If you are looking for more out of your red laser, I highly recommend getting one of these lenses. For only $55 you can get ~25%-30% increase compared to the stock aiXiz.
Your 250mW laser just became a 310mW laser :gj:

Nice... I'll have to pick one up for my red. After I recover from my holiday spending

Thanks for the review Dave! :)

I knew you would have the same results as I did...

About Meredith, they are using their new broadband lens now. And it is a good lens. But not as good for red as my 650-G-1 glass lens. (about 3% less power)

And not as good for blu-ray as my 405-G-1 glass lens. (about 4% less power)

But also, the AixiZ module is better for heat transfer since the diode is pressed into the module. With the Meredith module, there is only spring tension holding the diode against the module. It works, but the AixiZ module is much better for heat transfer with the pressed in diode.

So my lens modifications are fit for AixiZ! :) (plus you may want a hot lens for your Kryton red build!)

Thanks again Dave!

Thanks again Dave!

No.

Thank you.

You are constantly working behind the scenes to make the hobby easier for others.

This is just another in a long line of research that WE get the benefit from.

Peace,
dave

In the review section, Niko has a thread stickied that is a compiled list of all reviews...

Oh... Dave said it faster. With a link too!

I have a request form filled out for "red Kryton beamshot". Where do I submit it :)

310mW (with the aiXiz glass lens) next to 245mW (IIRC)
