Hey guys,

I've finally received my first blu-ray laser from Jake.
The laser is wrapped in bubblewrap and packed with a bunch of paper shreds in a cardboard box, very nice and secure.

The host is a coleman max, and from the smell and texture of it, it appears that it has been spray painted black. It doesn't look too bad, just feels a bit sticky and had some imperfections, no big deal.

I asked for a dust cap, and he did send me one which is GITD, nice.

It didn't come with any batteries, so I don't have any beam/dot shots yet.

The module end can not be unscrewed open, it appears that it has been sealed up. (I didn't force it open)

I unscrewed the aixiz lens nut, and the back of the lens has been cut open as I asked for.
However, there are 3 cut marks on the acrylic lens (presumably from the razor blade), which is quite deep and I think I will need a replacement unit for this lens.
Anyone has a spare aixiz acrylic lens to spare? :p

Video:

You can see the effects of the lens damage when the dot is unfocused.

Jake should be paying for a new lens, that shouldn't be your responsibility if it came from him with cuts in it. And thats a pretty 'uneven' lens opening mod lol. You should try to make it nice and circular.

The spray painting of the host, sealed module end and the seemingly random opening of the lens (with scratches!!!) all yell at me: Don't buy from Jake!
I really hope it lasts more than a couple of weeks, and I hope that he sends you a new lens.
I would never buy something I could make myself with fewer mistakes.

Damn that lens is messed up.. you should not accept such lousy quality! Ask him to send a new lens.
If he can mess up so badly just cutting out the back piece of a lens, I dread to think of what mistakes he has made in the rest of the build.. Maybe an overdriven diode? Maybe a loose connection? Who knows :S

And to Hallucynogenyc, please take paypal disputes as a last resort.. contact him again, ask about your order and give him time to respond. Jake is in money trouble because he needs to buy insulin to survive and is selling a lathe to get the money. If you mess around with paypal it may prevent him from accessing his money and thereby getting him into huge trouble. Even if you don't care about him, you will probably never get your laser if you piss him off and cause a lot of trouble.
I know it can be frustrating as a buyer, but these things take time, people have a lot of things to think about and do.. that's something you have to expect when dealing with a private manufacturer.

i'm really sad about his health problems, but I'm not an ONG.

Honestly, i asked for registred airmail and he used normal mail. Also, after 2 weeks of asking for the tracking number he gave me a customs form number like if i was idiot enough to think it was a tracking number.

After all this, he ignored my emails for a whole week. After this I opened a paypal dispute (25 days since the payment was made). Then he mailed me saying if I wanted sleds, I said him that what I wanted was or the money or the laser I bought, and he has ignored me until today.

I sent the dispute to paypal this morning when the postman came and gave me a package I had bought from an USA seller 2 weeks ago. If this package wich wasnt registred or anything (just because it's a cheap thing) has arrived here it's imposible a package from him wich "was sent on 30/04" hasn't arrived yet coming from the same place.

Hope you understand me now.

Yours,
Albert

Wow that is bad Albert..
I really hope it works out for you and that you get your money back (rather than a scratched and spray painted laser :S)

yes lol, if I recive such a crappy laser I'll keep the dispute until he gimme back a % at least.

I understand he needs the money, but scamming people to save your ass is not the best way to earn it :(
