THANKS TO IGOR for the absolutely WONDERFUL rebuild of my Dorcy Jrs. This probably doesn't belong here but I am doing this to encourage anyone who is considering or worried about his builds that HIS WORK IS ABSOLUTELY TOP NOTCH!!!!!! I recently purchased 2 Dorcy Jrs and had nothing but problems with them. The build was so inferior that merely focusing them caused them to break. I was ready to pitch them until I showed pictures to Igor and he encouraged me to ship them to him and " he would do what he could with them". Well, to say that he "fixed" them would be akin to saying a hurricane is a rain shower!!! Igor took the time and effort to completely rebuild them starting with custom ordered heatsinks and flexdrives (flexdrives not custom). The thought prosess and time he must have spent was above and beyond. I strongly encourage anyone who is thinking of ordering his blu-rays to do so!!!!

Here are a couple of before and after pics of the work he did on my Dorcy's. I would direct any technical question about what he did to him. http://www2.snapfish.com/thumbnailshare/AlbumID=248080444/a=122793836_122793836/ t_=122793836

I see you got the pictures replaced.. Before they were almost as bad as what i found in those "lasers" when i opened them up..  ::)

You know, if you don't want to publicly expose the "builder", i can respect that, but at least tell him to use tape next time, to hold it all together, instead of stiff unsoldered wires, and glue which i almost choked on, when i tried soldering to the PHR diode, to test if it's alive. Not that it ever stood a chance, even if the wires had been soldered - the FlexDrive was set to 200mA!

The only reason the open can red was still alive without a driver or even a spike protection cap is, that it's a freaking tough diode! But since it was stuck in at an angle with glue under it, and had a screwdriver and a hammer taken to it in a futile attept to get it straight, it was so horribly distorted and bent up, that i had to put it out of it's misery. It actually survived 24 hours straight at 600mA!

The only good thing i found in there was the FlexDrive in almost pristine condition! Only one of the four solder points actually had a solder blob. The other three were completelly untouched...  Altho i must say, i never saw solder hinges before.. Very "creative".. :-?

Seriously man, the more i think about it, the more i think they were made to break! But i don't want to lose any more words on that. :-X

Anyway, i'm very glad i was able to help, but i would not have been able to make such a clean build without DarkHorse's help. He had the heatsinks on the way to me, before i ever even saw a Dorcy from up close. I just told him approximatelly how i imagined it, asked him to make them fit, and he made them even better than i wanted! I was so impressed by his work, that i asked for two more slightly different heatsinks to make some Dorcy's for myself.. Oh, and a third one just now... And he always finds a nice way to surprise me, and do it even better than i ask for.

I hope they serve you and your son for a very long time.. At least now you won't have to worry about breaking them by turning the lens... ;)

Well, you did the hard part here.. When everything fits together so perfectly, putting in a diode and a driver is hardly a lot of work.

Thanks again for your help! :)

And what kind of power at 600mA? :-?
