Dave, for how long can you run it before feeling it getting warm?

Re: Arctic: Spyder III: Review

 what do you think that Dave knows nothing or has only been doing this a couple days ?

I and i think most people were waiting for someone with experience with lasers to get and review the Arctic. This Review was done great and answered the important question.

Re: Arctic: Spyder III: Review

I did divergence test with my homemade 445nm laser pointer that uses glass lens for red lasers and here are results..

divergence.png

In your picture I can see that dot is about 30mm at 30ft and that is almost 3mRad (I don't know what is beam diameter at aperture)

Is divergence really that bad?

Not that bad. There is a lot of "blaze" in the photo. The length of the line is about 24mm. The divergence on the fast axis is about 2mRad. It is smaller on the slow axis ;) As I said, it is about what we see with the AixiZ 445nm glass lens.

I did NOT fiddle with the focus.

Re: Arctic: Spyder III: Review

Dave I didn't want to confuse anybody and put a pic of my lens in your thread, so jump back over to the thread I made early this morning; my lens is different than yours, has the same yellowish tint to it.

That is what I was afraid of..... that arctic doesn't use correction optics.

Interesting. Two "models", eh? Is your easily adjustable?

Re: Arctic: Spyder III: Review

IMO a good pair of goggles should reduce the output to <1mW. Nice review though.

Re: Arctic: Spyder III: Review

Dave I'm not sure as I have been mostly been busy with family stuff and I simply haven't tried that yet. I did find a video on youtube that has the same lens I have, if you like I can post the link or send it to you in a PM; I'm trying not to clutter up your thread.

NP. I'm off to class anyway. You can dump the link here or in PM. Either way is fine with me. You do whatever it is that you need to do

Peace,
dave
