Default Hercules 325mW review!?

OK I got that Laserglow Hercules laser from Casinopawn and just wanted to share what I've seen so far of this beast. I've seen a ton of pictures of this laser and while it's impressive, it's not as impressive as holdin the doggone thing in your hands.

We all saw that another member we aren't going to name was trying to purchase this from casinopawn and they refused to allow a middle man transaction. I know that it was because they were afraid that they were going to get in trouble with whoever bought it when it didn't live up to the 500mw they claimed it was. Going behind the scenes we arranged for me to purchase this and then hand it off. I was given permission to play with it a bit and do a review as well as graph it to see if it is truly doing what it's supposed to. The person who wont' be named also purchased a beam expander, tripod adapter and power adapter for this and since I couldnt' get very good power output from the batteries, all the tests you'll see with the exception of one, will be with the wall adapter.

I'll post more graphs and such in here as I complete them.
Results thus far.

It's kind of sickening that I got the most stable results on batteries. Much weaker though. Don't know the voltage on the batteries but will test them soon.

Yeah this is the one that was advertised as a 500mw, but was actually a 325mw. actually I just saw that the label on the box is a 325mw, and based on my readings so far, it's pretty much in line with what this laser is capable of.

It would be nice if it was outputting ~500mw, though it's one killer looking laser!
The look of it would scare peeps on the streets (not saying you should go out in public with this thing) lol.

Hu those graphs don't look as flat as I thought they would be..... Doesn't appear to be that stable or a 325 avg ...... maybe you should turn it up a bit? Perhaps the previous owner turned it down?
Heck even my RPL graphs look as good as that and it’s a solid peace of aluminum….. wonder if that’s what its suppose to look like not trying to bash the product here it just seems I was expecting more….

I was too. I did tweak the pot a little in the hopes of increasing the output power. The only result I got was decreased output power not more. Honestly this adapter is set at 3v (goes to 12v), but there's 4.5v worth of batteries so doesn't quite equate. However the adapter is reported on laserglows site as a 3v adapter. I donno if I should try it on 4.5v or not (it is an option).

Here you can see above and below compared to a Kryton. Kinda puny. Heheh and everyone called them large!

Default Re: Hercules 325mW review!?

FYI: When we test the Hercules we gather data after a 1-2 minute warmup period. When a laser is this powerful it does need a few minutes to stabilize, so the instability that you see here is usual for the first few seconds of a test. Unlike other handhelds, the Hercules actually gets more stable and happier when you leave it on for a long time. We actually do a 20 minute test, so that's the best way to test a Hercules if you want to see the true performance.
