Focal 500mw Review!

Hello people, this is my first review, so please be easy on me
I ordered this laser a few weeks ago thinking that it would be >200mW AT LEAST, even though it was rated 500mW
Pros:
-nice case
-blue led is pretty
-aperature shutter is cool to play with
-something comes out of it...
-battery is very good
-charger is good too
-oh, it kinda looks nice
And now for everything that sucks ass about this laser:
The lasers peaks at 180mW, max. I could not get it to get any higher! Then, even better, IT DROPS DOWN TO 40mW. 40mW!!!!! And as it warms up, the laser mode hops like crazy, there was not one second of tem00, but instead we get this morphing dot that switches from 1 to 2 to 1.5 to 3 and just makes beautiful shapes, but it isn't good... Did I tell you that the laser was rated 500mW???

The laser looks like a SkyLasers 100mW reject, as it has such crappy mode hopping that it deserves to be fixed. I mean the mode changes every second! And also, there are minor blemishes on the laser, which means that something happened to it :

I just noticed on their website that the other guy received his and it is really a 100mW Skylaser model.  If true, that is some serious false advertising.  What Shapiro said (the other buyer) might be true.  I just looked at my SkyLaser 400mW portable laser and the sticker does say output<500mW's.  So I am guessing they put this on all their models and this is why FocalPrice is selling it as a 500mW laser.  Like Shapiro mentioned, the key is the sticker on the lower half of the laser that shows the product model and serial number.  If it says P532F-100B-Fa then it is the 100mW model.  I hope you can return it if you decide that it is not working to your satisfaction.
I am also thinking these are Skylaser rejects that didn't meet their specifications and they unmarked them and sold them to FocalPrice.

I agree with you that these are probably not skylaser lasers that are being resold. I would hope that the lasers that Skylaser sells are held to a higher quality standard, but I guess time will tell.

Potatorage, I'm very sorry for you that the laser turned out to be significantly less than expected. I know that's very disappointing. I have to say though, in a way I'm kind of glad. I had just ordered a 300mw green from skylasers when I found out about this supposed "500mw" equivalent for dirt cheap on Focalprice, and it was a little disturbing to say the least when I had paid over twice that much for a laser that was only in the 300mw range. I also want to say "Thank You" for taking one for the team so to speak and warning us all about the dangers of Focalprice. 'Tis a great service you've done!

It was kind of expected for it to preform like that though. :-/ I would try to get a refund.

You should try to send it back and get a refund or something. That's just BS for them to call that POS a 500mw laser ;/

No that's not the one. Go to FocalPrice.com and look for the "500mW Green laser". FocalPrice should give you twice what you paid for the mis-representation.

NVM I just looked at the laser on FP.

Oh well. I guess the saying of "You get what you pay for" really showed up here. It was worth a shot though.

oh no!! before... i wanted to buy this laser!but now....i will not buy this laser!however... the shell case is very good you said!battery..case.... all is ok......but not the diode power!!!!! no!!! :'(

Is it not slightly possible that it got damaged in shipping ?

ask for a replacement, and when that comes see how good it is, if it's still a POS , then ask for a refund.
