Ehgemus 32650 and 2X32650 Sandblasted Hosts
So here we go again with another amazing Ehgemus creation. I am sorry if this review seems a little less detailed but I have had very little time lately but I really wanted to get it posted. These two units are massive and can handle high powered builds very well. They are are a mix of polished aluminum and a sandblast finish with sweet looking rings that give the host some appeal. The craftsmanship is as I would expect from Ehgemus. Top notch.
1.7W/1.9W Aixiz/G-1 2X32650
We will start off with the big boy. This is a 2X32650 host and It is massive. This is the largest host that I have seen from Ehgemus. Being a direct press head this host provides great heat dispersal.
Here is how the host breaks down. As usual you have the tailcap, host body, driver pocket, direct press head and focus adapter.
I had decided to go with a Jib 1.8A linear driver. This driver needs a little help dispersing heat because of the high current. I took one of my gold dollars and cut it up with my dremel.
I used the larger piece to sink the regulator and I have the coin in physical contact with the walls to allow the heat to be dissipated into the host. I used a second piece to beef up the resistors which also get pretty hot. I used thermal adhesive to hold it all in place and allow good heat transfer from each medium to the next.
Next I pressed a diode in the direct press head.
Now that I have my pill all set up and a diode pressed I wired all three leads to the diode. I used the case pin for the driver negative input. Sorry I forgot to add a picture of the driver soldered to the diode.
After I soldered the diode I closed up the module and used a little thermal adhesive to keep it closed. Then I screwed the module into the head of the host, screwed the focus adapter with an Aixiz lens in it into the head and fired it up.:eg:
1.8W/2W Aixiz/G-1 Single 32650 W/M140 diode:evil:
Next we have the single 32650 host.
I had decided to put one of the M140 diodes in this host and it turned out very well. There is not enough data to say that they are binned any higher than the A series but @ 1740mA I got 1870mW with an Aixiz lens which is great.
This host breaks down the same as the last.
Now that Flexdrives are back in stock I am ready to get some dual Flex builds going. And I am certainly stocked up.:san:
I set up two flexdrives in parallel each set to about 875mA for a combined 1740mA.
I sinked the drivers back to back on a thick piece of aluminum. Since they are running under 1A I just wanted a little extra heatsinking which should allow the drivers to run continuously.
Then I wrapped it in electrical tape so that it will not short out against the walls of the host.
On this one when I pressed the diode I bridged the case pin and the negative pin to provide path to ground. It reduced the amount of wires I had to use and in turn made it easier to pack everything in the driver pocket.
Then I soldered the driver to the diode.
Next as I did on the last build I got out my thermal adhesive and used two small dabs on two spots on the top of the driver pocked to keep it closed. I use a small amount so that I can get it open again in the future.
I let it sit for 10 minutes while the adhesive hardens.
After it dried I screwed the module into the host, screwed the focus adapter with an Aixiz lens into the head, threw in some batteries and fired it up.:gun:
1870mW.:eg:
Conclusion
These are some amazing looking hosts that are true performers. The mix of the polished aluminum and sandblasted surface is amazingly done and the rings give it an upscale look. I am really impressed. Anyway thanks for reading my haphazard review on these amazing hosts.
