I managed to get the cap off of the violet laser pointer and focused the beam more, it definitely improved the divergence for me. Still looks like a bunch of little dots but it doesn't bother me anymore.

I just got mine today and noticed the same "dots" effect but took some pictures to verify and it turned out to be just the one dot. The "dots" effect must be an optical illusion as someone else I showed it to at work also commented about the dots around the bright spot.

Playing with it at work, I swore there was a dot pattern because the farther the beam, the larger the pattern but the pic (various 1/200 - 1/4000sec, various apertures exposures) does not support that observation.

This new to me color is neat but 532nm is just so BAM!

I am currently waiting on a 12X Light On sled and have a host and driver set to 420mA ready to go for my next laser. 405nm burning beast:eg:

Be aware that with these pens I used a lot of smoke to get those beam shots. The beam is not really visible except in total darkness or with smoke. But hey for $9 how can you go wrong.

Did this guy ever say anything to you or mark it as shipped on ebay?

I never heard a word from him, but after a couple days it was marked as sent and a USPS tracking number was visible via my.ebay.com

I ordered Tuesday and it's now Late Friday night and he hasn't marked it shipped or said a word to me. No correspondence what so ever. I hope they will just arrive at my door on Monday or something. You should always at least acknowledge that you received the payment.

Just looked threw my paypal and he never updated either of my orders to shipped. So I would assume this is his normal way of doing business.

I made some dummy AAA today. So now I can use my AW 10440 rechargeable.

My last one of these lasers blew up because I put 8V into it with two 10440's. Hopefully it can handle the voltage from just one. These things have a little over 4V when charged so it is a little higher than 2 AAA which I would think should be giving 3V when charged. Post back if it dies.

To make the dummy batteries I took a threaded rod and cut pieces the length of a AAA. Then I used a grinder to make a tip with a flat contact point. Ground the bottom flat. And wrapped it up in electrical tape(for a nice look).

They work pretty well. Snug fit good connection. Slide back out of the host easy.

I just noticed that these are the exact same host as the (all black) ledshoppe host. I suspect that all these pens, this seller, ledshoppe and many others, are manufactured at the same facility, and power output is simply a small adjustment of the pot. Am I correct that these come with an adjustable pot?

I have seen them in several places as well including on DX. They sell a 5-100mW version. They all seem to be engraved *LASER POINTER* on the clip and with the same dots on the rubber.

I can't find the review(I think it was merged with another 5mW pen thread) now but there was one where this pen was opened and there was an adjustable pot. There were pictures and a suggestion of wrapping the head in paper and putting it in a vise to twist the module out of the host. If I can find the info again I will post a link.

I have the Led Shoppe green 50mW pointer, it looks the same... can I bump the power a tad on this one as well?

This laser has worked flawless for 2 weeks now so Im thinking it should handle a slight pot adjustment...

I received mine today, and I am very happy with them for the price. I bought a couple of the 405's and a couple of the 532's. When shining in the dark the beam of the green seems much more focused than the violet. I was happy to see that the green is very visible in the dark. I can even see them in a partially lit room. One of my greens appears much brighter than the other green. I am sure the mW varies on these. Sadly, I don't currently have a way to test it.

I would have overlooked them without this review. Thanks again.

I was thinking about pick up the 10 and 20 packs. Going to a firework convention next month, and I know my crew would eat these things up.

Be careful and check the shipping. The shipping on the 10 pack is only $20. Factor that in and they are $4.60 each. While the price on the 20 pack is much less per unit, the shipping is $72! That brings the cost per unit up to $9.40! So if you want bulk, go with multiple 10 packs.
