Mine finally arrived :yh: It's divergence is aweful so I should refocus it.

I can see the beam now when it's dark, without smoke or fog. Will it get brighter or less visible when i focus? How much mw would it be with a visible unfocused beam?

Also im scared I might damage the laser when I pull off the cap, should I?

Are you sure the divergence is actually bad? The human eye has a /really/ hard time focusing on 405. Most of the time the 'dot' will look large and fuzzy when it really isn't.

I've had over a dozen of these pens now and the divergence on all the 405's have been decent.

Well, it looks like a flower of dots. One in the middle and about 6 dots in a circle around it. If it was just one large dot I wouldn't care. Or is this normal too?

I read on another, non-laser related forum, about someone who did focus them and was now able to light a match with them. We both bought the laser pens from the same hong kong seller on ebay.

You can test it yourself. Press the button and hold it pressed. Put the laser on the table and go actually to the dot and see it close-up. It should be a round/oval dot with no spikes or flower around it.

Yeah that's normal heh. At certain distances I see the same pattern and a lot of other people do as well. If you tape the button down and set it up somewhere, and walk up to where the dot is, you'll see it's really just one dot.

like I said, 405 is hard for the eye to focus on. There's nothing wrong with your laser.

Another thing would be to shine it at something that fluoresces. Like a sheet of paper, most light colored clothes, etc. And you'll see the 'ring of dots' vanish.

The last thing is true, indeed. It looks perfect on a white object, nice blue color hehe. I will try the first thing tomorrow (it's 2:42 am here :p ) by handing the laser to someone else, then I can take a closer look

I have noticed that, and it is kind of annoying as it really frustrates me even though I know it is just the wavelength yankin my optical chain.

Just Picked up the three-piece combo from the same seller.

The set of three were only 20$ shipped, they arrived after 2 days (I was pleasantly surprised). Both the 405nm and the 532nm are overspec and beautiful and the 650nm, while only 3mW, is of very good quality.

This is my very first Blu-ray laser :D and I am amazed at it's appearance and abilities...I accidentally discovered it's use with GITD items when I shone it on a novelty drinking glass and I almost shit myself with glee, I CAN'T STOP PLAYING WITH IT!

Anyways, I'd just like to say :thanks: for calling my attention to this seller, now if you'll excuse me...I need some alone time with my new favorite possession.

Their addictive and fun as hell. Im always using my blue to find stuff around the house that glowes when shined on. Grab a few highlighters, if I shine onto the body of one it damned near lights up the room.

Cool, looks like he has these back up now with his old prices. All his listing were ended for a while and the prices had been jacked up on them. Glad to see he's selling again.

Too bad they won't sent it outside US. This is a nice combo and I am still looking for a low-power red.

Not sure about there, but here low power reds are super easy to fine. heck even most gas stations will have them heh. Try the pet stores there though. look around the cat toys section.

The host must be Newwish. I like this host and want a collection of Newwish's with all avaiable colors. Now am looking for a cheap 5mW host and replace the diode with a 635nm version.

I have some of the RGV sets from this seller. The reds are a different host than the greens and blurays.
