it arrived in exactly 2 weeks to WA state, USA and since it was my very first laser i was very impressed. i went to radio shack and bought a cr123 charger with 2 batteries. i went home and charged them and as soon as they were charged i put them in. the laser seemed very bright (this was indoors during daytime). the dot was bright and i loved it because it was my first high power laser. but i now know the flaws with this laser, such as that it starts out extremely bright and after 4 seconds it goes dim. at night the beam is clearly visible outdoors. the laser does not pop balloons or light matches or even heat up anything. but that was to be expected. this laser also eats through batteries extremely fast, and i will only let it be on for 15 seconds with 5 seconds of off time because otherwise it drains the batteries too fast, the build quality is very nice and i haven't noticed any paint chipping, (i take good care of it) the threads are greased and the lens is glass. over-all i love it and i hope it lasts a long time. i usually only use it at night outside because otherwise it is just bright, with no cool stuff like a visible beam.

if you have questions feel free to ask ;D

EDIT: the laser doesn't dim, well it does but only when the batteries are extremely used

Going dim after 4 seconds actuall doesnt sound that good... you may still have lots of fun with it, but in my opinion its something that shouldnt happen. It's not unusual though, many cheapr green laser pens & pointers suffer from this problem to some degree.

i kind-of expected a lesser quality laser because its from dx but hey sooner or later my 200mw red dx laser will arrive and i'll be happy

Oh, dont burn DX on it, many lasers from various suppliers suffer from the same problem.

The DX200 red is pretty stable though (as expected for a red), but this green one seems very good too: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.7883 - at least mine is nice and stable, but mileage may vary ;)

The Romisen L-A030 is pretty stable, I ran mines for around 5 minutes and the power didnt visually reduce, nor did it mode hop.

You'd think all these romisen 30 mws would have the same modules in them... but then again performance varies between individual lasers of the same model too.

Actually I think they do have the same modules, as laserlover said his only dims when the batteries are low, mines also does this then it flickers for a while, but I just fire them in the charger and hey presto they work fine after a charge.

my L-A030 appears to dim half a second after it's turned on, but then if i pay closer attention within the next 2 seconds it works it's way back up in brightness. so it dims, then reaches it's full output again.
Are you sure this is not what yours is doing?

it seems to always do it, but it's not a problem at all because it's already at it's full output within 2 seconds

It doesnt bother me just at start-up, aslong as it powers on fully after 2 seconds, its a great laser anyway
