I received my DX 30 mW Kaleidoscopic Laser (SKU 12337) today  ;D   It comes packaged as typical for DX with a couple aaa Cells.
Right off you notice the extra attachment on the output end of the pen and that the front part rotates in your fingers.  This is a solid heavy pointer like a newish but without the dimples.

First, I removed the Kaleidoscope to measure power.  With supplied cells, I read 27 mW of 532.  With e2Lithium, It "jumped" to 35 mW !!  Clean beam.

Now the fun --- I re-installed the kaleidoscope part and it becomes a hand held light show.  The front part appears to contain 2 diffraction gratings.  The front one rotates with your finger pressure to display a rotating fireworks show.
It appears that the diffracted output covers one square foot of wall at  one foot.  Wide spread for room usage.  Makes for a good room show but probably not much outside especially limited to 35 mW.

This "pointer" with its Kaleidoscope measures 6.625" in length which is a little longer than a normal pointer.  Still a fun show and the grating can be removed to output a single point.

This picture shows packaging and the grating removed.  Another picture of the "pattern" will follow when dark here.

Here's the output about mid-range on the rotation. I'm on the floor looking at the ceiling. ~7.5'. It's more impressive when moving.

This is a neat little bar laser -- Psydolic whatever. Not too bright but will be seen!

could you shoot a quick video of it? you say it looks cool when moving.

I have one of these too. It looks awesome outside when you take the attachment off the wimpy 30mw pointer and stick it in front of something a bit more powerful ;)

can you use the attachment on another newwish laser.Any IR?
The attachment won't actually screw onto other lasers, but you can always hold it in front of the other laser.

IR from a 30 mW pointer ??? Give me a break.

Do some IR testing with a power meter --- PLEASE. I have never found DANGEROUS amounts of IR unless you have a short nose ;D. I have an 808 to calibrate my filters to power meter and never found more than 30 mW on the biggest greenies.

Those power readings seem to be pretty well on spec then - not bad for a laser this price.

Is it stable, or does it require warm up time and/or suffer from thermal dimming after using it a while?

At $26 its hardly more expensive than a plain true DX30, perhaps its even a better choice?

Is this a sentence or a question? Please diagram this fragment.

He's asking how much 1064nm IR it puts out.

I don't have any equipment to make a wavelength scan. I can't tell the difference between 808 and 1064 with my filters. Interesting question now that I understand! I've never given any thought to 1064 leakage because it seems that the mirror coatings would be optomized at 1064 to increase efficiency.
