This is my review of the Dragonlasers Spartan 200mw green and 90mw red laser.

I'm sorry for the very few, indoors beamshots. I will try to add some outdoors beamshots in the future.


I rewrote this review because I was not happy with how it looked.



Customer service before purchase and after purchase

I'm very satisfied with the nearly excellent customer service they provide. I say "nearly excellent" because the lack of proper English in some cases.

Dragonlasers' employee Adam answered all my questions that I had before and after I bought the lasers very accurately.

Shipping

Altogether it took only one week from ordering the laser to delivery at my house. Dragonlasers shipped it out on a thursday and I received it the next monday morning. I have never experienced such fast shipping. I received the lasers in a cardboard box with each laser carefully wrapped in a load of bubble plastic and an anti-static bag.
There was no receipt of my order.


The downside on the shipping was that it is fairly expensive. There are no options on the shipping though, so I'm very satisfied with how it went.


The 532nm 200mw

As soon as I clicked the on/off switch, I was blown away by the beautiful green beam. It is easily visible in a daylit room, and with a tiny bit of smoke it is even more visible.
This is a picture of the beam without any smoke, just a dark room.

The 637 90mw

The 637nm is so much more beautiful than 650nm. It is a lot brighter and the beam is thinner (I'm not sure if this goes for all of them). While many 637nm lasers have an odd shaped dot/beam, this one is nearly round. It also has a very low divergence.


The host

Both of them are in the same host called "Spartan" by Dragonlasers.

A comparison to the Viper lasers and 501B host.

It is a very durable, heavy host. The top cover and tailcap are both removable. While the tailcap screws off very smooth and with barely any sound, the top cover seems to be glued on or something. I had a hard time removing both the top covers.

Here you can see that there's some kind of glue on them.

You can see that this "glue" is on the inside, near the lens too, but it doesn't seem to affect the the beam nor dot even the slightest bit.

Each of the lasers came with a nice, screwable dust cover.

It's very easy to distinguish the lasers from eachother thanks to the dust covers. The red one has a bit less and bigger "teeth" on the outside than the green does. The green one is also a bit more flat than the red one. You probably won't notice this in the pictures though.

The top covers are different too. The green laser has a silver looking thread in it while the red one has a black thread.

Each of them runs on a single 18650 battery.

I've read in another review that it had to be a button top battery otherwise it wouldn't make proper contact, so I bought two of those. I believe this wasn't necessary for my lasers though.


Overall I'm very happy with these two lasers. I will update the thread as soon as I can take some outdoor beamshots.

Any feedback for future reviews/this review is very much appreciated.

Some items you could include in your next review: Voltage window for current regulation, current draw, beam dimensions, beam divergence, and beam power. These measurements would provide a quantitative comparison with other pointers, instead of "it's brighter" :)
