"Shipping to just about every country apart from the US takes 5 to 6 days. Shipping to the US unfortunately takes 10 to 15 days so you still have a bit of a wait."

Cheers

Trust me dude it's worth the wait, i've noticed that wearing the goggles even if not using the laser gives me slight colour blindness for a few mins after wearing them, not sure if it's just cus i only had 3 hours sleep in two days or not though xD
(i can't seem to get waterballoons to pop though, tried with black pen and black nail varnish and neither make it pop)

Its because when popping a water balloon the dot size affect the burning ability alot more than usually, because the water cools the spot down very quickly. Im sure with a magnifying glass you could easly pop a water balloon, just sucks that the spartan is not focusable :( (yet, when there will be a beam expander available it will be MAD)

What camera has he got?
I've had a little test with a 18mp HD digital slr camera, but up close shots just see the beam.
I'm not sure which is the best setting to take the pics at tho

It says on the end of my review what camera I used...

Im really surprised how well my phone took the beam shots. When I tried to take a beamshot of my 30-50mW green in complete darkness the beam is just barely visible on the picture. The pictures are taken with my phones camera (Nokia 6600, 3.2 Megapixels) and resized to 1024 x 768 pixels before uploading.

And the best setting for taking beamshots is any longexposure setting. Try setting the light sensitivity to pretty high and the shutter time to a couple of seconds. You can play around with the settings till you find the best one :)

I'm not exactly sure what camera my friend has, some $500 camera with a nice large aperture lens that I've taken some night time long exposure photographs with... I'm sure beamshots would look amazing. I'm going to try to photograph my $9 405nm ~50mW ebay laser tonight (i don't know how well it will pick up that wavelength though... we'll see...)

Still no spartan BTW, it didn't come today so I'll have to wait till Monday. (still says queued on the website even though Frank said my laser was shipped 10 days ago... 15 days after order... no shipping/tracking info yet). I hope it comes Monday... day 12. Frank said shipping to the US takes avg 10-15 days and 6-7 days everywhere else.

I read through all this review and I missed the power readings and mention of beam quality. I don't care about packaging -- how about the power, current draw, beam size and real science.............

I don't have a LPM or multimeter to measure the power or current draw :( The beam quality is very good (no splash or other artifacts) and the diverage is decent (haven't done any accurate measurements but I would say its about 2-3 mRad). The beam size at aperture is about 4mm x 1.5mm.
