Dragon Lasers 300mw Hulk Ultra review

Well Dragon Lasers have kindly loaned me one of their 300mw Hulk Ultra units. It came very well packed in hard wearing plastic foam and when I pulled it out I knew it was a good piece of kit.
The laser feels and looks rock solid so once I charged the batteries up (3.7volt 18650) and fired it up I was in business. WOW this thing is bright!!! The beam is very stable from the start to the moment you switch it off, a quick laser check reading showed it to be kicking out 347mw. I done the divergence test to and was very impressed to see it's mRad reading was 1.2303143398648588 mRad. I was also supplied with Dragon Lasers goggles with the OD3 rating. These are a must with any high powered laser especially this monster. The beam was still visible with the goggles and worked great if your gonna do any burning with this beauty.
The construction of this laser is second to none and the paintwork is really hard wearing paint, so this will take years of wear and tear. The Laser has a safety key to prevent unauthorized use as well as a red LED light to show that the power is on. There is no delay when you push the power button unlike say my Aries which has a 4 second delay before the beam fires up. It's also a little shorter than my Aries so it was easier to take out in your jacket pocket.
All I can say is that this laser a PGL-III-C.7100504 is not a cheap copy or clone laser it's the real deal so for $899 + free safety goggles you really can't go wrong http://www.dragonlasers.com/hulk_ultra

Nice review ! looks like a fine laser to me.
What was the average output over a period of time? you got a LPM-1 right? , I'm curious what the exact outputs are.

Cheers !

The duty cycle is 5 mins on these lasers according to Dragon Lasers and when I tested it on the LPM it averaged about 320mw and peaked at 347.1mw...

Can you post a graph of the output over 3-5 minutes? what is the current draw from the batteries? Is the focus adjustable? Have you contacted CNI with that serial number and verified that this was sold as a 300mW, and hasn't been tweaked?

Is that a 'warranty void' sticker on the plastic wrapping? If you open the plastic wrapping, I hope the warranty isn't void.

No offense to you Timelord, but either way I feel dragonlasers is not a good place to purchase a laser. It seems that you have a good relationship with them and are destined to get a good laser, but not other people. Not too mention their high prices and reputation for selling underspec :/

Anyway, good review

TL -- That laser looks like something a couple of us have in hand. Can you measure the current draw ?? It would help us ;D Nice beam too.

You talking about that S-KY unit? Naah, those are two different beasts altogether when you get down to details. Gotta admit they sure look similar in picture though!
