So as some already know last month I purchased a DL Spartan 50mw 589nm. I've waited until now to do a review because my laserbee arrived today!
Buying experience:
Overall as a buyer from dragon lasers I had only one small issue and that was payment. After adding the laser to my cart etc etc and finally getting to the payment part my debit card would just not work. So I decided to go the PayPal route and sent them an email with my order # and asked for a PayPal invoice. Within 12hrs I received a very polite email with my requested invoice.
Shipping:
I ordered right before the Chinese new year (I know a gamble in itself) and since I did, out of curiosity, I shot them an email to inquire about the shipping with the holiday and all. Again within 12 hours I received a polite email saying that it would be shipped out that day and within another 5 hours I was sent a tracking number. Now the long part. waiting. Of course the tracking didn't update until the Chinese new year was almost over.
Now for the actually tracking etc . when the tracking did finally update it was through TNT and had a delivery estimate of 3 days after it began and I thought to myself there is no way, but sure enough within the first day it was in California then passed through customs then made the swift journey to the east coast. It was handed off to Fed-Ex and delivered to me on the third day.
In total it took me 10 days from my order date to receive my laser. Very quick and very pleased. On customs declaration it was listed as telescope parts in case anyone is interested.
Packaging:
I will let pictures speak for themselves.
Overall the packaging was kind of lacking. Just 2 pieces of bubble wrap., but I suppose it was good enough as there was no damage.
Laser:
The laser itself is nice. Has a good weight to it and a nice solid feel. Take 1x 18650 as I'm sure most of you know. One thing I did notice was lack of battery orientation etching toward the tail cap I had noticed on other's who previously purchased them. All was well though I just used my label maker to make me a little label indicating direction. There is also the little screw in cover for the front which as others have stated can be a bit of a hassle but does the job. Most people have seen the Spartan host so that's enough of that.
Lastly Is POWER:
I was honestly kind of nervous on the power with the couple bad apples here after the GB. So this will be another review whether good or bad for the 3rd after the GB (that has been posted at least)
I just got my laserbee in today and am just as excited as everyone else to finally test this thing. I will be testing it 4 inches from the sensor (measured with a tape measure) (also waiting 20 minutes + for the sensor to reach the ambient temp of the room I'm testing in.)
Conclusion:
Overall I must say I am very satisfied with my purchase. Very first power test of 5 minutes is very promising showing close to 100mw for almost a full minute. Will be doing other tests as well to see how they vary in diff temperatures etc but for now this is what I leave you with.
