Recieved my 100 mw Module today from David Lanling, Holy cow, 3 days shipping from China to the UK. I got a great deal from him and OMG this module just rocks. Lights Matches instantly at 10 feet away (the safety matches too  and just slices through black insulation tape like nothing I have seen before. I thought my Pulsar 125 was good, but this is notably brighter. and with 100% duty cycle, I am a happy chap.

Your wish is my command.

Sorry about the shaky hand, one hand holding the match and the other holding the camera. and that is a safety match too, not a strike anywhere one, not sharpied (well its a brown head) and no external lens. First time I have ever lit one of those "safety Matches, Normally they just smoke.

Pretty far out for a red with no assistance from a lens to focus the beam  I kind of gave up on reds after my love for the pulsar died, but that was my personal feelings about WL at the time :-X So the pulsar popping balloons at 45 feet just took the back seat ::) But a match unaided WOW!!!!! now thats well impressive Jason

Yep this is the AC powered one too Greg :) Plug in the wall and it will stay on all night (well Not quite) David says it is good for 3-4 hours before it needs a cooldown. Now to Machine a nice aluminium Heat sink at work for it to give it true 100% duty cycle.

Just received my 100mw laser today, very very impressed. Unfortunately, the power board died after 30 minutes, gave a blue flash, and a puff of smoke :'(.

Any ideas of the optimum voltage this diode ought to be run at, I bought this with the intention of modding it into a flashlight/laser combo. It runs lovely and bright off a 3V CR123, was just wondering if it was rated a bit higher. Unfortunately, I can't get a voltage reading off the board, 'cos it's dead :(

Thanks for any info you could give me.

Thats really bad luck, was your power board insulated from everything around it? was it sat on anything that could have shorted the exposed soldered joints underneath the pcb? Mine is sat in a little insulated plastic box, on an insulated rubber mat to protect the joints.

with my diode disconnected, the board is supplying 4.46V to the diode pin plug, but I would be careful using that much voltage from batteries as any spike or fluctuation may kill the diode.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, I think it might have been my fault that blew the board, I had it on my worktop, and I found a couple of tiny screws on it after the event. No matter, as this was purchased to fit into a 3D maglite, so 4.5 volts with a resistor on it should be just fine.

Thanks for the help. Now where did I put my dremel.... :p

Thought I would move this to the review section as there has been some interest on it due to the pics we took of it as Tallaxo's place.

Remember to check the sticky's as we get discount.......

I really am curious as to what diode they use in these things. The duty cycle is quite good even without a heatsink especially considering the tested output.

hey jase! i just noticed that these modules look like the ones in our RGY scanners? you reckon they are?

Things, they look very similar, however they seem to have an extra finned heatsink pushed over the diode. To be honest, I don't reckon the red in the scanners are as powerful as the standalone diodes Myself and Merl tested. 197mW and 207mW respectively . I notice he has dropped his buy now price to £8.99 (or $18 dollars).
