I finally got around to actually making a laser out of the Sliver host and kit that I bought a few months ago from Dark Horse ( Dark Horse Custom ). It took me a while to figure out how to remove the flashlight guts and I cut myself a few times, then Barry let me know that you just unscrew the flashlight bulb guts and reflector.
Here's another source for the flashlight ( DealExtreme: $14.69 Ultrafire C3 Stainless Steel Cree Q5-WC 5-Mode 190-Lumen Memory LED Flashlight (1*AA/1*14500) )
After about 4 hours of building the laser I got it finished and it is very beautiful.
I used a GGWH20L 6x Blu Ray diode set to 210mA w/ Flexdrive v4 ( http://hacylon.case.edu/ebay/laser_diode/Micro_FlexDrive.php ) and also JayRobs lens mod 405-G-1 ( http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/fs-405-g-1-glass-lens-mod-28-increase-vs-aixiz-22497.html ) for extra power. Also used an Aperture cap from Dark Horse as well, the aperture cap being the same diameter of the Sliver host body makes for a very slick look.
Max output: 219mW
Average output: 202mW
Here's some pics. The beam shot pictures don't do justice to the brightness of the beam. with all the lights out the beam is comparable to the brightness of a ~50mW 532nm green laser beam.
