Re: *UPDATE* 12/10 Destructive Gear PYRO 100 Revie

No free laser here!!!

I won the 55mW extreme..and PAID for the upgrade to a Pyro 100 out of my own pocket!!!!!!!

This IS a Pyro 100 RIth!!!!

I know this thread is LONG...but you may want to start at the original post to see just what I have had to go through !!!

Oh...and I still have no replacement laser in my hand yet, Nor have they sent me tracking info after telling me that they sent my replacement laser to Las Vegas for testing??????!!!

WHY they would send the laser TO LAS VEGAS for testing is beyond me....they must not have IR filters and meters in Indeonesia or Taiwan..... :(

Ah you knew what I meant. I would be annoyed to have to do this with any laser of mine. It has been taxing enough on me getting my BFG fixed and waiting on that.

Re: *UPDATE* 12/10 Destructive Gear PYRO 100 Revie

Ok...I received an E-mail from DG stating that my newest Pyro 100 should arrive tomorrow!

Unfortunately, this timeframe is going to delay getting the laser out for meter testing!

The good news Is, while I'm going out of town the week of Christmas...I plan on taking this laser with me!

I will try to get the laser out for meter readings after the new year!!!

I want to thank everyone that has held with me as this Review is (Hopefully) completed!

Have I bored you all to sleep with this review????

I'm Sorry....I went back and re-read the posts...and it all seems a bit comical!

I wanted to be transparent..,...

I have been really thinking about how to form and write a conclusion to this review....

This is not what I expected....this is not what I had hoped for......

I will have to say that again...more info is to follow!!!!!

*UPDATE* 12/19 Destructive Gear PYRO 100 Review

Ok...
The Latest laser is now in my hands!

It arrived, and again I found the Tailcap Switch Broken.

Luckily I was able to repair it the same way I repaired the last one.

DG has informed me that there is a known issue with the tailcap switches coming apart, I just don't understand How they can keep sending lasers out with Switches that are so Prone to falling apart?!?!

At this time, All I can do is post the Chart that came with the laser so here it is!

Hopefully this is the One!

Re: *UPDATE* 12/19 Destructive Gear PYRO 100 Revie

Good luck Larry. I find it interesting that the power output on thier test shows lower then the one without the Ir filter. maybe they should, oh I dunno read thier tests before sending them out. it would give them a clue as to what is ACTUALLY going out instead of guessing =)

just my thoughts.

COMPLETE 1/7 Destructive Gear PYRO 100 Review

Well...We finally have a Laser that falls within Published Specs here folks!!!

Mike has again come through and Confirmed that this laser is Putting out >100 mw...(120 Peak 110 Avg. or there about)

It was noted that based on thermal meter testing .11mW was IR!!!!  ;D

Silicon Based Meters show 1mW of IR TOTAL!!!!

The only thing that would appear to be sort of Flakey is the Switch.

Since this switch fell apart in Shipping, I had no choice but to try and repair it myself.

I believe that any switch malfunction is simply a case of the switch having spring apart in shipping!

Mike completed the repair and reports that the switch functions much better now than when he originally received it!

I have sent another e-mail to DG asking for a new switch, but I'm not going to wait any longer to CONCLUDE THIS REVIEW!

All in All.....

I now FINALLY have a DG PYRO 100 that performs as advertised..
I had to go through HELL to get one..but it's now MINE!!!

I firmly believe that every single issue with DG is QUALITY CONTROL related!

I stand firmly behind my observations that DG has a huge opportunity to offer something different to us laserists!

If anything else positive can come of this review, I would have to say that DG knows now that LPF members are well informed and educated about these higher power lasers!

We have educated consumers here...

DG's customer service has been very good..though they have a very difficult task in front of them if the company cannot get their Quality issues CORRECTED and soon!

In CONCLUSION.....yes you read that right...CONCLUSION!!!!

After everything that has transpired, and all of the effort to finally get a laser that performs as advertised......I cannot advise anyone to buy a DG product.

The one I now have in my possession would appear to be a rare item indeed!!!

I am sorry to have to conclude this way.

My best wished to the People at DG, Especially their Customer service people!

I thank everyone here on LPF that have watched and read this thread!

I also look forward to my next review....Stay Tuned!!!!

Larry --

I wouldn't dump them yet. They now know that WE here have the technology and won't take crap. Many suppliers are finding that WE are a force to be reconed with ;D
Your portable is very close in performance to my DL95. As I have said before -- the batteries usually sag out before the laser.

I agree Mike....

However, Given what had to transpire before a good laser arrived still makes me unable to endorse them.

I hope they can get things under control....

They have a lot of things going for them....but for now..they need to get their house in order....

It really is all in their hands....

I do wish them the best...but for now....well...what else can I say?

Larry, thanks for the updates. I do agree with you...I would not want to go through everything you had to. Maybe one day they will beef up their QC, but until then I would stay away from them.
