great review. i am thinking of getting a few things from cni and this has removed any doubts i had about them. 
And i know what you mean about the cat not being bothered about certain colours, my dog wont chase a blue dot but loves a red one. and as far as im aware dogs and cats cant see yellow. or at least not like we can.

Wait what..?
They (well dogs I'm referring to) can see yellow, but it appears green to them. Same for red lasers.
Dogs are red-green colorblind.
Don't tell me you're using a 1W 445 with your pets...

it was obvious the cat wasn't interested, but a nice red dot is like crack or something...
not 1W! When you do that they only chase it once....
