Today I got my first laser with the new blue diode. And I can tell you that I´m totally happy with it. During this review I give you some first impressions of this laser.

>>PGL-III-C specifications from the CNI site<<
(I just saw that CNI doesn´t sell the 1W version any longer)

Communication
The communication with Ava from CNI was a pleasant. She wrote back to all of my questions and arranged fast testing and shipping. From time to time I told Vivied due CNI´s livechat that Ava should read my mails ASAP
(Rating 9/10)

Shipping
Shipping was damn expensive, but also damn fast. I paid $65 + $5 for insurance. The pic below shows the lasers way to me. I passed the DHL-man during 5min while I went to the cash dispenser. After trying to achieve a second delivery-try I had to wait full 9hours till I was able to take the 1,5h trip to the DHL Express Office. It took 4 days from China to me.
(Rating 7/10)

Packaging
CNI parceled it perfectly, no way that the laser got damaged. I got some much new package material for my next sales :D
They also included a manual and a safety sheet.
(Rating 10/10)

Technical Specifications - the interesting part
The beam diameter at the aperture of the laser is 5mm, and the beam divergence is 1.5mrad.

According the output...
Average output power: 1170mW
Peak power: 1200mW
Wavelength: 449.3nm

(Temporary Rating 10/10)

The laser itself
The lasers built quality is very good. It is 220mm long and 38mm in diameter. It is quite heavy and weights 390g without the batteries. The laser doesn´t have a shutter, I was told due it´s inside configuration. I feel it getting a lil bit warm after 4:30min (air conditions 26°C) of running, but nothing special. It runs on 2x123A batteries – I can´t tell you anything about the runtime ATM, but I will update it ASAP.
(Rating 9/10)

Shot down to the ground from my kitchen window (about 90feet away)

Distance shot at a house wall about 600feet away next to my 220mW greenie. Sorry for the cam-shake but it was difficult for me to handle three things together :p

Under the bridge, again next to my 220mW 532nm.

Pics with steam

First dot-size test
It looks near like a dot with the 405-G-1 lens, but without the convexity in the middle. Testing surface (GF teddy) was a bit curved, but I´m searching for a better surface + using the goggles for the camera. The laser was about 30feet away, dot-size is 1.7-1.8cm.

Second dot test
Test on a black surface, distance ~30feet
It seemed to be elliptical with other exposure time.

In the bathroom...

Strange sudden fluorescing:

A bit of smoke produced by my chimney

I hope you liked my review! I´m going to update it in the next days. I know you guys want to see some nightshots, right? If you have further questions according this laser, just ask and I´m gonna try to answer them

No shutter. Hmm, I'd be interested to see the inside of this.

Great first look at this laser, +1!

:jawdropsmiley: That's a nice laser. Fast shipping too, then again you did pay $70 for it. How near TEM00 would you say it is?

Nice review.

Have you had a chance to check beam specs? I am primarily interested in the divergence and overall final "shape", in comparison with a DIY build.

Wow. I definitely do want one of these... And the price is right, too... I think you are the first to have a 'production' non-diy 445/447, sir!

Can you post a distant beamshot?

Still want to see if it's true that "600mW and below" on these has corrective optics whereas the 1w does not?

UPDATE with the first distance shot at a house wall about 650feet away next to my 200mW greenie.

I wanna feed you guys with much more infos in the next days, but I´m working 10hours a day (laser don´t buy themselves :p) and have a lot to do for the university, so please be patient.

And btw.. I DON´T plan to open the laser ;)

No problem DJ, and, I wouldn't open any of my CNIs either. :) No rush but - is the output round or rectangular?

It looks great, DJNY!

I'll be looking forward to reading about your testing with this unit...
It's a shame they don't include the aperture shutter. I think that is a feature that I would like to have on all my lasers if possible.

good looking unit.

I would also be interested in what the dot looks like at distance.

I prefer constant on/off instead of a momentary switch. Just less likely to accidentally push it when unlocked and also you can set it down with the beam on for beam shots. Had to use electrical tape for some of my beam shots on my Rayfoss green.

Work is waiting - short update: beam diameter at the aperture of the laser is 5mm, and the beam divergence is 1.5mrad
