Do you know if the other lenses will reflect light back at the diode? Like the flashlight lens for example (one of my favorites :) )

I got around 40mW off the flashlight lens.
Hardly any measurable reflection off the line and cross lenses.

Hello Zapu, I think it's awesome that you take the time to do such in depth testing! Not all of us have access to a L.P.M. And it's good to know the power of the reflections off different surfaces. Also someone on another forum was talking about an apparent twist in the beam at different distances. Since it emits a line profile, and passing though corrective optics for collimation, I think that's what makes this phenomenon more visible?

The beam doesn't actually rotate. It just expands at different angles when it passes through a round lens:

Wow 40mW reflected back is quite high! What's the chance of frying the diode with that reflection?

Don't know what the damage threshold is. We are not getting reports of diode failure lately, it's probably OK.
The first Arctics shipped had some fail, reason unknown.

A great review with tips i appear to be having issues with my battery as it sometimes goes full power and other times only for a couple of seconds, ,crap battery ? i have tried others new but cheap ones they are protected and they shutdown high power mode in a second, so better or better and unprotected will work better ? and you didn't mention which way to turn lens to set for fast burn 1/4 turn but which way ..i get 1313 mW when it will hold high power on and not shutdown laser but go for long time on low about 650 mW any ideas re high power cutting out unless the battery is really fully charged driver issue?

Yes that's true but i only just got the laser the more i delve into it i think 50/50 I'm using shitty batteries new or not .need to get some good expensive ones and see what happens
