BudgetGadgets

I've had many previous experiences with BudgetGadgets, so I already knew what to expect.
In the past I have ordered a few lasers from them, and was satisfied every time.
In a certain case, they even refunded a laser that I decided I didn't want, even a few weeks after I received it and used it.
From my experience, it seems their customer service is excellent.
They too, like O-Like, Rayfoss, and SKYLasers, use Windows Live Messenger.
This means very easy communication.
They responded to questions quickly and were a pleasure to deal with.

Shipping & Packaging

BudgetGadgets do offer free delivery.
Although they do have other options such as DHL, UPS, FedEx, etc.
Anyway, it took less than 2 weeks to get to me from China, which isn't bad at all.

It came in well packaged, the contents were safe.

It was described as an 'Electronic'. They listed it as a gift.

It came in the popular 'Green Laser Pointer' card-case, even though it is 405nm Violet/Purple.

The Laser Host

I love this host!
It's really small, but has a nice weight to it.
The knurled focusing ring is really nice too.

Here is a size comparison with an 18650 battery. (It actually runs off of 1 CR123A/16340 battery)

This laser has a nice orange clicky switch on the tail-cap.

The warning sticker/label - The picture is unclear, but you can tell that the laser beam on the sticker is purple - which is nice.
Also, it says <100mW and 405nm.

The Laser Beam

Some beamshots:

I really like the 405nm purple colour!
This laser has a visible beam in the dark, despite it's near ultra-violet wavelength.
And as seen in the last shot, with some fog, even the unfocused beam is visible.

Above is a picture of the unfocused 'dot'.
It is a nice, clean, rectangular shape.
The focusing mechanism is very good, you can focus the beam a centimetre a way from the aperture or a few inches away.
It's not a problem focusing to 'infinity' too.
Divergence is as expected from a 405nm laser.

Here are a couple of pictures comparing it with the BudgetGadgets 532nm 100mW Laser in the same host.
The camera seems to make the difference less noticeable, but it is still clear that the 532nm Green laser is brighter.

A couple more beam shots:

Despite it's 100mW power, it can still burn really well.
It can do all the average stuff easily, such as light matches, pop balloons, slice tape, etc.
To see this laser burning things see the video at the end of the review.

Conclusion

* BudgetGadgets were very nice to deal with.
* The shipping was reasonably fast. 2 weeks from China to UK.
* It was well packaged and arrived undamaged.
* The host feels really nice and of good quality.
* Power seems to be 100mW or more.
* The price is a little high, starting at $35.53 for the 50mW version.
* I would recommend this laser and BudgetGadgets.

The discount code is very handy. Did the monitor survived the laserdot ? You actually shine the laser on the screen.

Yeah, they kindly gave a discount code for me to put on my review.

LOL, no I didn't shine it on the screen.
It may look like that, but if you look carefully, the laser is mounted on a tripod which is placed on the desk that the iMac is on.
What seems like the dot is actually the aperture.

Looks like it's actually shining away from the monitor on a tripod:whistle:

Edit: I need to refresh more often:p

The review is comprehensive with a lot of pictures but you can't be sure about the power without the LPM.

Yeah, I'm not sure. But it does seem to be up to/over specification.

Edit:

UPDATE - VIDEO UPLOADED!

Thanks!
I hope to get an LPM soon.
If/When I do I will try to go back to all my reviews and post the true output power, considering the lasers are still alive and haven't dropped in power since package arrival date. :)

Nice, It's really bright.

Thanks!

Please note - I did use fog to bring out the beam.
Although, even then, it surprised me too! :)
Wasn't expecting to be able to get such good shots of a 100mW 405nm laser.
