Glad you like it. Was hoping it would help. Wish the pictures turn out better, was using a iPhone, need to upgrade to a better camera.

Still hoping your lasers sell. Best wishes with your studies.

Man, I know that took a lot of work and time to pull this off. Thanks!

For the 445-520nm multimode diodes, I find I just can stand the G2 lens, I have six of them floating around unused. The G2 is great with single mode 405nm but with multimode, fuggedaboutit!

I've always loved the two element lens, I have no way of measuring but it seems to tame the horrible divergence of these multimode diodes without as much power loss as the three element lens. I wish they were more common.

One thing I've always wondered was if the lens nut is absorbing/blocking some of the light. It would be trivial to ream out the inside of the nut and make it less thick. Any thoughts? I'm sure this has been brought up before on this forum, my apologies if I missed it.

Again, great job and thanks for your time!

I agree, this was my first experience with the two element lens. They have become my favorite, was stuck on the g7's but they got to take a second seat to the 2 element. Going to have to order some more from DTR to put in some of my other units.

As far is reaming out one, if someone has the tools why not give it a try and donate one to the cause they pretty cheap? Take a meter reading and find out. You just might be on to something??

My question I been researching is oxygen hitting the emitters after you remove the g- ball. Been reading could cut the life of the diodes. Makes swapping them out a lot more hazardous. Any thoughts?

Im not sure about the oxygen part because I dont think the diode assembly is hermetically sealed and or backfilled with some inert gas in the first place, not intentionally anyway.

Personally I feel the reduced life is from the current we drive them at plus without protection from dust/crap falling and baking on the facet. Maybe more back reflections hit the facet causing COD death from not having a window with AR coating?

In the past with diodes like the a140/m140 Ive had stuff get baked on the diode window. I "decanned" and removed the window very carefully and never noticed any performance or life reduction. Been running one A140 like that at 1.8A for like 3-4 years with heavy use. Toughest diode I've had!

That's excellent news, I've got quite a few decanned builds that I was really concerned about. That's one tough little m140 you got there . Might try to de-can one myself.
