Awesome IR diode from TheMonk

Well, I just recently recieed 2 windowless IR diodes from "TheMonk", and I immediately popped the first one into an aixiz module and soldered on the pre-made driver/enclosure.

I sorta pushed mine, People said they drove thiers at around 200mA, someone killed thiers at 210mA I believe... Im running it at 245mA, and its going strong

I am AMAZED at the power, and it compares to my old open can MXDL.... burns INSANELY, burns through a slim CD case in 4 seconds also, when its burning, I all I see is BIG flashes of white at the burn spot. I used to see this with my red while I was wearing protection goggles.

my camera (on nightmode) easily sees the beam, its cool...

I can see the dark red dot faintly unfocused on a wall 10 ft away. I had purchased a 200mW IR from snoctony before, and in the short moments that it did live, It didnt output anywhere near this

So, I recieve the package, open it on the little bar counter thingy next to the kitchen, ake one diode to put into a module and I leave the other sitting there in the case TheMonk sent me in (I loved the floss (inside joke))

after about an hour, I emerge from my little workbench in the garage to find the counterall clean and wiped, and my diode no where to be found... The little tin foils that were wrapped around the diodes when they came (I took those off and put them on the counter beside the diode) I found in the garbage. the diode was nowhere to be found...

Nice, I recently ordered a short open can and a windowless IR from him. Although I don't think I'll be using the IR anytime soon until I get some goggles.
Sorry to hear you lost the other diode, I know the feeling when somebody else throws away something that's yours because they think it's garbage when in fact is a really important thing, that's why when I leave my stuff out I always tell everyone that I need it and I'll beat the crap out of them if they touch it. ;D

I feel so GOOOOD!! turns out, someone thought I already had too much of this crud, and decidced to "recycle" my diode for the good of the enviornment... after digging through the garbage and the recycles, I found it in the recycles....

oh, BTW, I contacted snoctony regarding the massive price increases in the past few months,

before, I bought a diode form him for 10 bucks plus 10 shipping. that is still a tremendous amount for shipping....

now, after some time, the price for that same diode has been raised to $12 plus $20 shipping!!!

I asked him why, and he said:
