Aquarius 5 (Laserglow blue).... first impressions

My first impression of this laser was WOW.  I'm very impressed with the color, the build quality, and the suprising brightness of it.  My only concern is that I think it has either TEM 01 or a cracked lens, but I'll investigate this more later.  I can't get over how this color looks, it's mezmerising.  Also, the beam is very bright.  In 28* air (0% humidity), it's completely visible from either direction, and it can put a barely visible dot on a structure that I have confirmed is just over a mile away.

Further thoughts and pics in another thread later.

Hope it isn't a cracked lens. I got my vega today and apparently it got knocked out of focus during shipping.

Aquarius lasers from LaserGlow are 700 pulses per second, about 50% duty cycle.
You may have lint on the lens quadcam, but if not, don't worry, it's covered if there is any defect by LaserGlow. I am getting a price on the last of the engraved unit(s) I understand that, only 4 were ever branded, so could be a collectible rarity, as well as my favorite laser color of any battery operated laser! Firm commitments will be accepted to reserve the last 2 Aquarius -5's like quadcam got with a fair cash deposit. Try about $400 and cost will stay at or under $555 inc. ConUS shipping to the first 2 who send funds only. I'll keep trying to find the best deals. I toss in gift items, NEW UNITS, LG quality And they carry full LG warranty.

What power is this? I have a viasho blue 5mW and it peaks 12mW and stays at 10mW.
I can see the dot at night at a distance of 200meters. I don't think it can be visible at a mile away if you don't have a blue having an output power over 100mW . I can see the dot of my fusion 125mW at a building 1Km away (0,62mile).

I'm not fimiliar with the Viasho laser... is it a Bluray? If so, it would be violet and far fainter than a 473nm true blue laser mw for mw. I also suspect my blue is a bit brighter than it's supposed 8mw peak.

A Viasho blue is an RPL-blue, Optotronics is supplied by Viasho as far as I know.

do optotronics even sell 5mw 473?? not quiet the same as an RPL, an old 5mw wont be equipped with the 2.5W n-light diode.
plus, the lasers have to pass Jacks burn-in process to be listed on the site.

$498 for 5mw, add another $100 for 20mw - whats the point behind that?
personally i would buy from a well known company and get a product thats more or less guaranteed to be up to spec.

Re: Aquarius 5 (Laserglow blue).... first impressi

Well, I have come to the conclusion that this laser is NOT mode hopping, it is definantly TEM 00. However, it DOES have a severely fornicated lens, and I'm going to try to send it back for warrantly service. I'm not sure that I want it to be replaced though, because sometimes it's VERY bright, but sometimes it's dimmer than my 635 Atlasnova. When it's spot on, it's as bright as a 2-3 mw greenie. the question now is it in it's 2-5 mw advertised average when it's bright, or when it's dim? Or is the brightness one of it's 8mw averaged peaks? I wish I had a power meter to find out, because if when it's dim it's only putting out less than 2mw, then I would have it warranted for that.

$545 may be a good deal for what it is, but it's still a hell of a lot of money, and I want to be sure that I get my money's worth.

Glenn, I'm happy with our deal, and I don't blame you. I'm 100% certain that this happened in shipping, because with all the "Laserglow QC passed" stickers on it, I'd certainly hope that they didn't ship it out like this!

if the laser is not per spec, follow the RMA and get it replaced, the maker can give you a new one and they will fix the one thats broken and re-market it. sorry but you deserve one that is what you bought. shipping delays are a drag, but do it and get what you ordered. I am sure Glenn had and has nothing to gain or lose. I am sure he and LaserGlow wants you to have what you ordered too!

Oh I have no malice towards Glenn with this deal, he was absolutely fantastic and I will do business with him again! I couldn't have asked for a better guy to work with. Also, if LG's rep is even halfway what I've heard that it is, I have no doubt they'll have me in an up to spec laser in no time. :)
