No, it works from 2x AA, or 1x 14500 (lithium ion battery that is the same size as one AA).
It only has one switch as far as I can see.

When I took off the cap at the aperture end, I found some metal shavings (some quite large) that must have missed QC. Could have been bad, if one found it's way to the driver. Just a heads up for y'all.

No IR filter that I could see, LOL....yep, for the price....not a bad pointer, especially the battery option of 2AA, or a single 14500 ...which mine seems to prefere.

I would like to add this to Glenn's review- I got three of them -shipping was OK--however-- you will not be dissapointed if you think of them as a host and a 30mW green module-

-only two worked as is and one of those that did lase, failed a day later--they are thrown together- have crappy side momentary push buttons ( so use VERY gently)and one did not contain the rubber gasket in the front between the module and the tip-and AL shavings inside too-so open it up and look before you use it IMO

&-the AA batts rattle a lot. FP assumes that you know one AA will not work-(14500 yes)-

I sent in a request to return and never heard back-- but thats OK as I am going to put two modules into HSs and spyder macro lab hosts (ala meatball) and use the cases for phr or lcc hosts--adding a tail magnet clicky switch and a tad more heatsinking..HZ

I got mine today. It arrived with a 50mW label, and appears to do just that (compared to my other 50mW 532's) on Lithium AA's. No battery rattle, very solid, good button, bright tight beam. Best laser I've bought for that price. Am getting another.

Yes, the OP mistyped. Obviously, he means mW. You can pass if you like, but you'll be missing out. I can absolutely concur with the ~1s warmup and an average of around 45mW, as compared to my other LPM-measured lasers. (Don't have this one measured yet.. looks good though.)

Hmm I think I need one later, I have a LPM and can provide some power outputs then aswell.

I bought this laser after StyroPyro did a reveiw of it. I assumed it was actually 30mW because he said so. Mine worked well for a few hours. Impressive beam, bright dot, i remember my delight as i moved it over a pink surface and the dot seemed to appear yellow. It never burned anything though, and i tried leather the way StyroPyro had and black plastic. Then a loose connection developed. After that it was never the same, it would get worse, i would need to screw the head around back and forth, press it, try again, hold it down and turn the head around and eventually dissassemble it and reassemble. The button system also fell apart. It stopped making contact with the diode driver. I dissassembled it once again and pulled out the bit of black rubber suspending it in place, then aligned the driver button with the hole and just celotaped the button in. It was still very irratic but worked so i was happy. To sort out the loose connection i stretched the battery spring and put aluminium foil at various points in the battery compartment. Then it would be stable for a while. I'd still have to dissassemble it every so often, but it would be stable for a while.
Finally, it fell out of my pocket in Chemistry class and hit the chemical resistant really-fucking-hard flooring and the crystal assembly came detached from the diode. I could stick it back on for short periods of time using the residue sticky surface, but not for long. Then i made the mistake of trying to superglue it. Where before i'd been able to align it and see coherent green light, once i applied the superglue it never gave even a spark of green. And i tried 3-4 times, pulling it off, sticking it on. Still would really like to know why.
And now i'm looking to replace it!

Well, I have noticed it's a "fat beam" -- The power's good, but its not a pinpoint, so it's not going to be a great burner.

But for $14, it certainly is not a bad laser - well, if it keeps working.

Really? Styropyro smoked leather with his in his video, and he claimed it could burst a balloon and turn off streetlights (I tried the streetlights thing and it didn't work). And they advertise some of their pointers as fat beam, but not this one.
