These are not new. My guess is they have been somewhat overlooked because of the popularity and lower cost of pen stlye greens. I tracked them for quite a while on EEKbay until I got this one for around $40 four yrs ago. I emailed every seller about what they ccould tell me about Duty/Rest cycles. Most said 'no worries' a few said they weren't sure and one or two said - whats a duty cycle? They all looked the same and were rated by the sellers from 5mW up to 100 Mws and priced accordingly. Mine is still working- I dont worru tooo much about overheating it and with no LM I guess its abot 5 to 10 mW by comparison. It has behaved pretty much the same as Alex's except for the dying part. dr ebert- why couldn't it be use to host a BR ?-- thanks==Hak:p

Add on- although is was a long read- I had no probs with realista letter. I have never tried to take mine apart BUT-looking from a sellers point of view-once you go that far taking it apart it is yours now. Granted it is still working so he isnt wanting to return it after doing damage but I personally think he a bit niave and most electronics are not returnable once you go inside.. Please can some one come up with a better name than bottle laser- I never knew what to call it but I think we can come up with a common name for it with some dignity.

I baught this laser from DX about a year ago rated at 20mW. It really is a great pointer. It is the one I carry around with me. Now that DX sells modules you can do what I did and put their 200mW module inside of it. Mine has a threaded retaining ring for the module. I just had to put some washers in front of the module to space it properly for the tactile switch to sit under the button.

Any new laser I build will have this host!!! Axiz modules fit snug inside of it too and it's big enough to act as a good heatsink. At least it's better than any pen design- Solid brass too.

Great review! I should have done a review a year ago.

Hey Alex

You asked "I guess it's time to replace it with a PHR. (btw, does anyone know, will a rkcstr run off of two CR2 3.0V?) "

I believe a PHR and a rkcstr driver would run off of two CR2 rechargeables. My PHR with a 114mA fixed rkcstr runs off of two 10440 batteries that are rated 3.6V and are 4.2V at a full charge. I believe that the rechargeable cr2s from DX are the same way-a little overpowered after charging. At least if you try it, you will won't lose out on too much money. Besides, the Dilda will have good enough heatsinking that it will last a long time.

hello boy. i noticed a strange thing. firstly i must say.. i potmodded bit the laser. it not improved in bright.. because it was already potmodded ... but i turned RIGHT the pot a bit more.... ...1mm BEFORE than the pot BLOCK the current. was it correct? i stopped to turn the pot at his max output.. but i don't know if the potentiometer works with a LINEAR AND GROWING lines of power.. or it has a WAVE curve of power. it it has a growing linear.. ok i made it correcly.. stopind 1millimeter before the potentiometer stop.

however.. my problem seems that the laser seems to workb better with 3v cr2 instead 3.6v cr2!. if i use 3v.. it does not warm fastly. and the bright is good. when i use 3.6volt...the brightness seems to be the same.. but it heats a lot before.... and when the diode heats.. it loose power. so.... using 3.6 volt.. for first second ok i have MAYBE a better beam.. but after some minuts of play with laser.. it loose a bit of power.. and i can notice it. instead, using 3v cr2...it seems to me more stable in power...

is it normal that a potmodded laser work betetr with lower voltage?maybe because also ONLY 3volt goes weell into the diode.. and using 3.6volt.. is worste

And

G Fourty, Jerry, and especially realista, I'm really sorry. You guys are correct, Ideas' language was not correct indeed and I shouldn't have defended that kind of language. I'm adding this review to the review thread (which is not "mine", it belongs to everybody, I couldn't do it without other people's reviews) and I assure you this will not happen again.

G Fourty, your point of view made me see things differently, thanks for answering in such a mature manner.

Again I'm deeply sorry.

Talk about being pwned by peer pressure, I also found his post hard to read, not saying it should be excluded from the review post but just saying. Maybe it would be worth someone going through and just cleaning it up a little :)

Good job on the review, thanks for the info.
