Hi, last time I reviewd this laser , the review was kinda crap. I dint add much. Anyway, here is the url:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/300mw-profess...39:1|66:2|65:12|240:1307&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Okay here are some Pro's and Con's of the build of the laser: (Pro's in green, Con's in red)

Faily light for its size
Fells VERY good in the hand
Foucusable (Vital for diode laser  ;)

Get hot quite quickly (40 seconds)

Now for the prformance of the laser:
Seems to give out, at least 230mW
Constant on/off switch

Mode problems, mine hade a sort of scratchy circal around it and hade a very blury smallish dot astray from the main one.
Laser beam is not perfectly straight, housing not installed correctly
Low-qualty heat sink
Not relly THAT birght as its 660nm

300mW ? ! !

Maybe without lens - it is ;)

How did you test power. I mean on what meter?

the only 300mW you'll find is on this forum made by some of us who try to build one by themselves, and those are rare with special combination of extra good diode+special lens+pushing the limits with current allowed.

p.s.
Why did you write 230mW as a pro? (in green font)
Isn't it 70mW under spec?

Yea, but you didnt EXEPCT it to be 300mW did you? so 230mW for an ebay laser advertised as 300mW is quite good really. I mean, it could have been like <150mW!!!!

You can buy a DX200 Red for $43.00 and power it from 2pc 3.6 volt batteries
and get the same 230mW output or higher... :-?

and I said ATLEAST 230mW. It burns through electrical tape in seconds, Lights matches in an instant, and destroys ballons in under a second!!!

That auction listing makes me laugh... They say it's a 1W diode and they're running it at 300mW, yet it's only able to reach 25 miles.. It's somehow able to last 10x longer than other diodes (most have a MTBF of around 5000 hours), though if it really were a 1W diode being run at 1/3 of its capacity that might be true... Then again if it really were a 1W diode you'd be getting one heck of a deal and that would make for one heck of a pot mod...

Anyways, how do you know it's even 230mW? Do you have a meter or are you guessing?

It seems like a really shady listing, the specs they write don't make sense... For the price you paid for it, it had better be at least as good as they say it is or you got ripped off. Sorry.

blody hell it is!

Thing is tho, my laser can pop a ballon in under a seconds once fousused, Can light a match from like 1 or 2 meters, and litterly takes seconds to cut thought electrical tape. It take a while to burn paper tho.. Yet the paper I used was fairly thick....

It certley seems like over 230mW.

it could be modded maby? But I have hade it for 2 months now without any problems. Maby I got a good one.

These tests you have done can give you a range of 80mW-500mW especially because you are using a focus to aid your burning. a 100mW laser can do all of the same things that a 230mW laser can do. You should get the laser tested before you post output.

If you are in the UK, you can post it to me and I will check the output on my laserbee. Message me if interested.
