I got one of the cheaper and was not too happy w/ its 'strength' of the legs. The one I have had a poor way of hinging the three legs with a short 'pin' to keep the leg from just falling out.

I highly suggest treating them very gently as the plastic part that 'hinges' the 3 legs is not very strong.

I pressed downward with a laser in the clip ...just to spread the legs and one of them broke free. Tried to JB Weld it back but that did not go well.
The version from Sanwu looks to have metal where the cheaper is plastic.

Having several of both should solve that.... use the cheaper for small lasers & be gentle.

Yes they are pretty cheap, but for price they seem (to me) to be well worth the 3.74 asking price. Hope they stay together and work for your application.

If something breaks that just give you the excuse to experiment! :crackup:

I had some of those smaller tripods , now i use these flexible legs and has a 1/4 -20 threaded post to accept some nice clamps.

Those are very similar to the SmallRig clamps. I have several and they are great. I've seen that tripod, but spend a little more for mine. I bought one once with plastic parts on it and.......never again.

You're right Paul, those "small rig" style clamps can't be beat!

i been using these tripods for a while and they are very durable, The small tripod with the spring loaded clamp seems to fall over if not balanced right.
@ BT,
I bought quite a few of them and when opened up full you can get a MagLight battery tube to fit in the clamp.

That is a nice looking tripod you got there Rich. Looks real sturdy also. It's looks just like the one you gave me, only it has smaller legs. Kinda like how the shorter leg looks.

I needed to buy a bunch of tripods and wanted them all to match (or as close as I could get) Had bought 15 off Sanwu before when they were 10.00 a piece plus shipping. They've since raised the price to 15.00 each. Didn't want to spend another couple hundred on 10 more. So I opted for the cheaper version. But there not nearly as study as the one you gave me. But they seem to work just fine in my application. And thanks again for the freebie, it's the tripods I use for my camera when I'm out on the road, because it's so secure.
