IM A MACHINIST AND IM GOING TO MAKE UP A SPACER(WASHER) FOR MY DX200 RED, FOR THAT USELESS SPACE BETWEEN THE FOCUS KNOB AND THE LASER HEAD, IF ANY ONE WANTS ONE , ILL MAKE EXTRAS. JUST PAY FOR THE SHIPPING.

LOOKS LIKE .482 FOR THE HOLE, .710 FOR THE OUTSIDE DIAMETER, AND BETWEEN .035 AND .040 FOR THE THICKNESS ON MY LASER.

IF YOU HAVE A MEANS TO MEASURE YOUR LASER(GAP ONLY), I CAN SURFACE GRIND IT TO THE THICKNESS YOU NEED.

Ahem... this is a laser forum... not a "sex education" forum...

After reading this review and seeing several recommendations I finally ordered one yesterday  (incl. CR2's and the charger) :) Just lets see how long will it take for it to travel into Finland

I ordered one afew weeks ago, and when it arrived it was a dud.

So I sent it back and my new ones due to arrive today.

If this ones a dud Ill be pissed off because I cant get a replacement due to the July 1 laws in Aus :-[

I hope you get a good one! There aren't many duds so you most likely will get a good one.

I ordered a DX 200 a month ago with non rechargeable batteries and it showed up today.
For $53.80 delivered it's a bargain.
The only drawback is it only puts out 160mW with the standard batteries. I was expecting a little more.
I read somewhere that using the rechargeable batteries might increase the output.
I just ordered another DX 200 and rechargeables.
Let you know if the output is higher in 30 days, hopefully less.

Got my dilda today (took 2 weeks). It burns..everything that isn't metal, white or red. ;D Im pretty satisfied exept the "focusing glans" is little bit wobbly (shouldn't be in this "Gen. 2 dilda"?), teflon tape will fix it thou :)

I love this laser, personally.
Burns matches instantly from about 2 feet, longest match light Ive done is 15ft in 5 - 10 seconds (donw it about 3 or 4 times).
Not tried balloons yet, but Ill see how far I can stretch to at some point :D
Ive found mine can etch and engrave BLACK metal easily, along with plastic (blue, black, grey and some green) and cuts electrical tape (ofc)
Stings skin like f*ck when sharpied >.<

The only downside is the wobbly focus head (teflon tape, here I come!) and the fact that from a distance its difficult to focus (cause you dont know where the absolute minimum radius is), but I guess thats the same with any focusable laser :p

I like how easy it would be to take apart and use as a host (or just to replace the diode) cause everything comes apart really easy (with unscrewing obv, no falling apart unexpectedly xD)
Overall Im really pelased with it :D

Get one!

Yeah.. now I applied some teflon tape on the thread and the focusing glans works perfect ;)

I hate how much it slips when it wobbles, like you set it down on the table and whoops! time to focus again :p
I might put something on the glans to make it a little sticky, see if it stiffens it up a little ;)

There are two easy "fixes" for this. The first is already on the table in this thread, put some teflon tape on the threads. The second is to "stretch" the spring that should be under the lens housing more. The spring under the lens housing is there to apply tension against the threads, thus making it harder to turn. If the spring is missing or too weak, the lens housing will turn too easily.

Peace,

Nice review but I'd really like to know if they are over-driving that diode. If so, how long before this laser is toast? After two bad greens from DX, I'm hesitant to get one of these until we know more detailed tech. Don't get me wrong, it looks like a great deal but I'm still worried about their QC. Has anyone really put this thing through a rigorous testing period or measured the current?

The laser itself usually draws around 300mA-330mA. I think most of us agree that these diodes are like the diodes in the "Phazor" Group Buy that are rated to 200mW CW and 350mW Pulsed. I don't think I've read any reports of people who had theirs burn out (except for somebody who let it on way too long).

Thanks Styro. Sounds like one heck of a buy.

Are there any safety (eye) issues we should know about with this beast? Are the Wicked (for red) LaserShades adequate protection?
