Allright - I know I promised this review a while ago, but my access to an LPM seems to be limited right now as I can't get ahold of the guy, so I'm going to do a simple, rudimentary review and add the actual specs to the thread as soon as I can get accurate measurements. The laser I used in the photos for comparison is a LED Shoppe 50mW that has been confirmed with an LPM at 44mW.
First off, FocalPrice as a company really let me down - it took over a month to get a partial order out of them (even though all items ordered were listed as "in stock") and the ship time was over 11 days even with the optional EMS express. That said, read the other posts of mine in the "Companies" thread, this is all about the LASER!
Construction is about the same as all low-buck greenies from China, I prefer the non-coated barrel like the LED Shoppe pens but with the exception of the coating and about a quarter inch at the head end, this is basically the exact pen. Solid feel, switch works well but has that "gonna let go one day" feel to it, pocket clip probably has a limited lifespan too, but with care this should hold up fairly well for basic lazing.
The beam is quite a bit wider than the LED Shoppe 50, and as the photos show, considerably brighter. Daylight visibility is far superior to the 50, yet nighttime sky shots only seem to go marginally farther (although the beam is MUCH more visible due to it's considerable girth).
Sharpied matches, 2-3 seconds at 6 inches, 4-6 seconds at a foot or so. Unsharpied red matches 8-10 seconds at 6 inches, no go at a foot. Black balloons at 4ft POW, at 8ft it takes a few seconds and a REALLY steady hand but they go BANG, 12ft no go (or at least my shaky hands couldn't do it, even braced!)
SO - for $75ish, I'm definitely not disappointed in the purchase, it is what it is - a cheap Chinese green pen. As soon as I get ahold of my buddy and his LPM I'll post the specs, until then perhaps those here on the forum with more experience might be able to give a round estimate based on beamshots and the burning specs I've listed.
PRO's: Cheap, Burning ability (which for what it is, amazed me), WIIIDE beam so really really visible in all conditions.
CON's: Cheap (needs to be taken care of IMHO), WIIIDE beam that cannot be focused so limited capabilities for burning
BIGGEST CON (Almost but not quite a deal-breaker) - FocalPrice. "Nuff said.
I'm not sure how to insert multiple pix so sorry but the'll all be in seperate posts. LPM results soon, also I have a KD 200mW 18650 laser on it's way so another review soon as well as comparisons...
