I just bought one of these modules form ebay seller trilights:

TTL: 150MW Green Laser Diode DIY DPSS Module + Power TTL - eBay (item 230459960917 end time Jan-03-11 20:19:28 PST)

The laser was packaged immaculately and was shipped fast, arrived here at my house in 7 business days.

Given the low cost I didn't know what to expect, but the module is actually quite decent. Stays in TEM00 mode so far (I've only tested it for about 2 hours) and the power is very stable at 316mW peak 305mW avg!!!!! (pic later, don't have my phone handy ATM) I had to double-check my meter... thought it might be broken or something.

freaking awesome.. especially for $125..

I can't say for sure that they are always this powerful, but if you're planning on building a scanner or if you just want a lot of green for cheap, these modules are just what you need..

EDIT: the above-mentioned power quote is BEFORE IR filtering. After filtering my unit has a stable output of ~200mW avg. I have revised the title to reflect this. Your mileage may vary.

Sweet! I'm getting me one.

Do you know the divergence?

Very true Jerry, they are spec'd at 150mW.. I hope you do get a beast, but even if they only made 150mW on the nose, $125 shipped for a TEC stabilized module is still a good deal which is why I bought one.. anything more is just a bonus.

EDIT: Missed the divergence question

They have decent divergence, but not awesome. About 1.5-1.8mrad or so.. For laser show applications, this is ideal from a safety perspective. The beam diverges enough so that it isn't nearly as dangerous after a few yards, but the beam is still extremely tight in appearance. It's TEM00 as well and I haven't seen mine mode hop while running CW.

Re: 300mW of green for $125 shipped!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Update: After adding an AR coated IR filter the output drops to 200-225mW, so there's about 100mW of IR in there. IR filtering is recommended, but fortunately the front cover is easily removed with two screws and an IR filter can then be attached across the aperture using epoxy or caulk or even double-backed tape (NO super glue!!!!!). You can get AR coated IR filters quite cheaply here: One piece IR Filter - eBay (item 130384721909 end time May-20-10 06:01:36 PDT)

These are still a great deal for the money.. I do recommend adding an IR filter, but that's quite easily done with these.

Even 200-225mW of GREEN is awesome for $125, especially considerng its a labby too.

Nice find, but what kind of plug does it have? I don't think that is and American standard wall plug from the pic.

EDIT, nevermind I see that they'll send the appropriate plug based on the shipping address.

This is very cool! I may have to consider this.
