Hey Moh

I see Stonetek only has 6 left in stock. Looks like these moved out pretty well. Didn't you start with like a hundred?

Also I am adding the new way I am modding these to fit the 18500.

When you first open the host it has a retainer that helps keep the swich in place. You will need to use a screwdriver to pop it out.

p1011572.jpg

Once you have the retainer out. You can see the pill area and the contact pad.

p1011574.jpg

Bend the tab into an upright position.

p1011575.jpg

With the tab in the upright positon you can now slide the spacer out with ease.

p1011576.jpg

Now that the spacer is out you are left looking at the clicky.

p1011581.jpg

Remove the clicky from the host.

p1011582.jpg

Next get the AAA holder so you can get a spring.

p1011585j.jpg

Just grap it with some needle nose pliers and it will come right out.

p1011587j.jpg

Next I like to mount the clicky in my helping hands.

p1011588.jpg

Then solder the spring to the contact pad that will connect with the battery in the host.

p1011589.jpg

For an added bonus I take an 8mm super strong rare earth magnet that you can get in packs of 100 from DX and solder it to the top of the spring. The works amazing to pull the batter center when inserting it in the host.

p1011593.jpg

Next I like to increase the size of the pill for working room. So I get the spacer out.

p1011594.jpg

Then I cut it a little shorter.

p1011595h.jpg

Now reinsert the clicky in the host with the spring facing the back of the host.

p1011596.jpg

Slide your retainer ring in and add some Krazy Glue to hold the spacer in place since we will not be using the original retainer.

p1011597.jpg

Now since we shortened the pill the contact pad in the pill is a little longer to keep it from touching the side of the host just bend it over with some pliers and you are done.

p1011598.jpg

Now you have a much larger pill and a perfectly centered battery with no magnets attached for spacing that has better pressure on it when the tail cap is tightened down.;)

Re: 1W 445nm Mohrenberg Hotlights $20 host Total Build Cost $128 W/Battery

and the 18650 fits?
They didn't go out that quick. I only sold him 10. There are 5 left now.
But all in all i think i had bought 90 total. I still have some laying around missing parts or partly brushed that were going to be polished versions ect...

Nope they only accept the 18500 which it just fine for running a 445@1A. I recommend the AW brand.

If you have parts laying around I could use a clicky to replace one of the ones that I damaged.;)

Re: 1W 445nm Mohrenberg Hotlights Blue 18500 Host Kit

I have a great update for this host. I have found a higher capacity battery that fits like a glove.:D It is a 22600 2500mAh battery. The real great thing with this battery is that it takes no modification of the host to make it fit. Here are some shots and a video of the unit I built tonight with this battery.:D

Nice find!

Do you have a 3405 host handy to try the fit? Probably fit that host as well!

I would guess this would fit just about any 3XAAA host out there without needing modification.

And of course I have a 3405 host.;) And yes it fits like a glove.:D

Well I am waiting on a batch of 8 to get here from kaidomain. Apparently they have not even shipped yet.:scowl:
http://kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductID=10622

But I got two from an ebay seller in the mail today that I ordered the same day as the ones from Kaidomain. And I must say he was damn quick for being in china.

2pcs 22600 3.7V 2500mAh Rechargeable Protected Battery - eBay (item 260617530567 end time Jan-06-11 01:10:32 PST)

Ordered from both people 12/14/2010

So Kaidomain is not winning any awards in my book.:(

Using the parts from StoneTek Electronics, would this be a good starter build?

What parts are you referring to. You will need a diode, Aixiz module, Glass lens, driver and battery.

A quick update on kaidomain. My batteries arrived today so I am happy with them once again. My order status is still packing. They should really update it so people don't get all upset thinking they have not shipped.

Well I have not seen that before but It does not mention the Aixiz module, lens or battery.

The module and lens are included with the host and I was going to buy the battery separately. I just thought it looked like a good cheap kit to start out with.

The host is the same one you used in this 1W build so I thought you might have more knowledge on how easy the host was to put together.
