^^^I knew this one was efficient but I was expecting 2W not 2.3W. This is the first diode I have ever seen that is capable of this power. I would not even care to guess at the odds of finding one like this. But needless to say I would have to build a lot of 1W modules to find another.:eg:

Don't these diode simple die when pushed too far, but will turn back on when you reduce the current?
I'm just wondeirng if you could put it on your bench supply and set it just under that thresh hold and see what it's really capable of outputting.

DTR don't you have a video where you had a diode on a supply and turned it up till it went led?
I hooked one up to a flashlight driver that was putting out 2100mA and it went led. I than put that diode on a flex drive at 1200mA and the diode was fine.

Yes they don't go LED(or at least not right away) they just stop lasing @ about 2.1A and turn all the incoming current into heat. Then when you turn it down it will go back to normal. This is obviously not good for the diode.:beer:

I apologize if this has been covered, I read the first page but skipped to here. All your links to those batteries now go to lower mAh versions. Does anyone still have the 4,000mAh versions?

Yea if you check out over @ CPF there has been some debacles in the 26650 world. The company that was making the great orange label 4000mAh IMR's stopped making them and a lot of Chinese sellers stepped in selling fakes that preformed horrendously. I am not 100% sure what to recommend you now on them currently. Batteryspace does have one available and they are a very reputable seller but they don't have the same discharge rate as the others but that may not be a problem for us as they are still rated to a 4A discharge instead of the 10A discharge of the orange label IMR's that were used in this thread. I would say these should work for any laser project.

LiMnNi Rechargeable 26650 Cell: 3.7V 4000 mAh, 4.0A rated 14.8Wh

They do also have a 3600mAh unit that has a 18A discharge rate.

T Steele I do believe I have one of those orange 4000mAh 26650s you are searching for at the house. I currently have no use for it so if you want it it's all yours
