Just got finished with another build! Probably the cleanest one yet. :evil:

I used a couple flex drives I snatched off of Daguin. :tinfoil:

I set them at ~900mA each and then used some arctic silver thermal adhesive and attached them to the Heatsink as seen in the following pic.

My meter somehow broke so I can't lpm it :(

It is using a 405-G-2 lens with an M-140 diode.

I estimate the output at at lease 2.2W but I have no way to tell.

Made the heatsink myself :) my first.

Impressive to say the least! Was that your first time custom machining a heat sink for a laser? Always good to see another 2W+ hand held laser in the forums! :D

Sounds good! What's the plan call for? Which diode, heat sink, host are you going for now? I'm planning a cree C6 1.2W 445nm build soon. Have to slowly acquire all the parts first :D Good luck on future builds! :beer:

Thanks guys :) Seller paid on Saturday, and paid for 2 day shipping. Had to run around on saturday afternoon looking for an open place to ship it from! Fedex never fails!

One was closed and you went to a few to see if you could ship it.
Worked hard to keep me happy :)
And he did it on his break too. So I could have got him in trouble :/
 
I have one of these hosts which I was planning on putting a laser in, although they are such awesome small torches I'm torn. I may have to buy another one just as a host!

Anyone selling off the shelf heatsinks for these by the way?
 
I'll make you one. :) I don't remember the dimensions though.

I measured this at work on Friday and it's tapered. Over the first 9/16" depth back from the lens ring it tapers from 1-1/2" to 1-9/16".

Actually I have a few 3 x AAA hosts I would like heat sinks for. Wish i still had a thread gauge - one has a 1" thread all the way through the 1" long head. It looks about 32TPI but its a bit hard to measure. That one was a $20 supermarket torch that has promise. I may be able to get a 22600 battery in it if the head & heatsink are small enough.

Another looks like a press fit for the module 23.5mm diameter and 15mm long. I got four of these little torches at supercheap auto here for $9.

I bought some 22600 and 18500 batteries in anticipation.
