I have build a very futuristic looking laser. This host uses 3x 14500 li-ion 3.7V cells and inside is a 500mW 638nm Mitsubishi diode.
The battery configuration is 3x14500 in parallel !

I have use the stock driver for this laser. Special about this driver is that it needs a electronic signal to get on and off. The switch is a momentary on switch. The driver is standard 2 modes, just Hi and Low. That pesky stobe mode is hidden. You don't have to use the strobe mode if you don't like it.

The mode instruction:
Press and hold the side switch for more than 2 seconds, the light turn on and into high brightness mode, fast click the side switch to switch the lightness mode between high and low. When the light is on,fast double click the switch access Strobe mode, and light will be turned off by pressing and holding the switch for more than 2 seconds.

HOST

It has his own serial number, really a unique host.

BUILD

The whole lase breaks down in two parts with a big sink. Thank Eudamonium !

The top side or the sink side.

The pill side.

Stock driver, it has six AMC7135 ic for 2.1A output. They are on the side pcb.

Remove two AMC7135 for lesser output. Any two ic will do. I chose these ic's.

The electronic switch with full metal knob and casing. It looks very good and needs only a light touch to get on.

TEST

Low mode, the output is intermittent but it changes so fast you won't noticed it.

High mode, full throttle :eg:

The lens is the AR 650nm G1 from Jayrob

Wow, nice laser!

1W red

The host is similar to Golden canon from O-like, but yours is much smaller and uses 3 batteries...

Yet again, you made a good job!

Just wondering, how does the spot of the lamasery look? Is more of a line or is this a true single mode diode? Sorry if this is a just a noob question.

You and your big lasers blord...

Nice build! Certainly something that can start... and end a conversation!

Edit: @ the above, it's a line without a doubt

The beams specs are terrible. It is typical of the 300/500mW 638nm Mitsubishi diodes. Worse than a M140 diode.
But it does burn.

The host is actually not that big. :shhh:
Remember that this takes 3x14500 batteries instead of 3x 18650. The latter are much bigger host.

That is right. That was a prototype. The final build has the module flush with the sink. You will see only a little of the lens barrel.

Thanks for the kind comments ! :)
The Nitecore TM-11 is a much fatter host. I don't know if it is esthetically suitable for a laser. You could almost build three lasers in that host :)

Great laser. I love how you can use low power mode for longer life and only switch to high 1w when you want to. Brilliant!

I love how you reused the original driver. It looks very sturdy, and should take a lot of heat punishment. With 2 ICs removed, I'm fairly certain it'll do 100% Duty cycle.

I hope that in the finished version, the beam doesn't appear to be coming out at a very slight angle, I can see it in the pictures, just a little.
