Yeah, but that kit cost $139 and you still have to buy the lasers . If I make one, it will probably be 139 or 149 WITH the laser modules.

I think most people who want a fancy thing that like want more than like 50 mW total power.. Also the fusion kit looks oh so cool.

True, and Thanks for your advice, but I'm still going to make one - ( please refer to post #6)

It would be fun to build, and a good experience with dichros

I'm not saying don't make one (I am sure it would be a fun project), I am just saying it's a tad impractical and a lot of work.

AFAIK you can't buy a white fusion kit anymore.

I say go for it, it's a great semi cheap project to tinker with in your free time. Down the road you could add some galvos and analog/ttl drivers for a nice RGB projector.

Those are non adjustable dichro mounts. Even if you manage to get the beams aligned (which will be hard), I would expect that the alignment might not survive shipping. Without mounts that the buyer can fine tune, they'll end up with a three color multi dot paper weight ;)

This is an awesome project, but I think you're better off treating it as a learning experience, before you try selling one.

I do hope you're planning on ditching those absolutely worthless Aixiz module mounts that provide practically zero heatsinking.

They'll be ok here.

The Green module (130mW) and Red HL63133DG (200mW) don't produce much heat at all.

The Blue produces a fair amount of heat, obviously, but I've got the Aixiz module mount for the Blue on a TEC.

I'd love better mounts, but this isn't a projector, it's a labby I'm building for fun. I just couldn't stomach $60 for three square chunks of aluminum with a hole drilled through them (ie, the Modwerx mounts).

If you have any suggestions that aren't $20 each plus shipping, I'm all ears.

I suggest you swap the TEC over to the red diode, to fight the red shift. I think the heatsinking you have there would be plenty for a blue to match that red. Plus you want the blue to shift as far towards red as you can, though they aren't as temperature dependent as red diodes are.

Also, I don't think you need much of a duty cycle do you? It's not going to be a scanner or projector is it? (I always forget the "PC" word for a scanner, what is it!)

445s shoot up in WL with heat right?

I'll be running the 445 really low. 2 or 3 hundred mW. In fact in reality, the TEC was put in mostly because I had nothing else to space the mounts higher (to be in line with the optic mount dichros). You've got quite an advantage having the ability to cut small pieces of aluminum as needed ;)

The other two mounts are spaced up with a set of 4 Icelandic Krona coins arctic silvered to each other. Sounds funny, but it works.

I've ordered a bunch of these:
58 x 30 x 6mm Rectangle Shaped Aluminum Sheet Flat Bar | eBay

Once they come, I'll probably put down one of these bars, with a TEC on top, for each diode.

If I ever decide to make this into a projector, I'll toss the 445, and just shine my 215mW 473nm labby into the same setup ;) That's way down the line though, once I'm living somewhere that I'll be staying in for more than a year at a time.

Not to ruin anyone's fun but isn't the OP basically a laser projector without galvos?

Why go to all that trouble when someone's done it all for you?

This guy wasn't online since 3 months :( (EDIT: Just read that FlaminPyro continues the white-fusion-kit...good to know *hehe*)
But i have to say, the White-Fusion-Kit looks realy awesome :)
..o0(make a note on my wishlist: White-Fusion-Kit)0o...
