What is this "solid" that you are talking about? Do you want the wire in one piece( "solid&quot? If you do... than there is no point. You can just make the ends "solid" by adding a bit of solder... A paper clip will work, but it is not the best solution. It will get hot with current and is uninsulated

ay... Just solder them together with solder wire... might want to insulate it... or use headphone wire... anything will do... really

The board looks like the two vertical holes are connected to each other. I don't know what it would be useful for, but I have never used a breadboard, so I don't know at all

And yes, that is a breadboard. It should work if you use every second hole.

Ethernet wire (24awg) should be fine fine for most things, if not a little thin for breadboarding (which is 22awg). *It can handle up to about 570mA according to this site, and you'll only be pumping in at most 450mA into a red laser. *If you need plain wire, just buy a spool or two at Sparkfun ($2.50). *I like to have red and black ones. *I'd pick up some other good stuff (breadboard, breadboard power supply) there too while you're at it since you'll have to pay for shipping.

I use Ethernet a bit because it's pretty cheap and you get six strands per given section. My situation is different, however, because I have access to a box of it as well as a lot of dead cables and such.
