Bought this 532 off ebay and its pretty shit but the host is nice. I found this module on ebay I want to replace with it. I feel like I will be able to tell if this new module would fit if I can take the existing one out and look at it.

Can someone give me pointers of removing the module please?

Remove the threaded aluminum ring and you can pull it out of the front. If you want, you can twist that black lens assembly and remove it first, but I don't think it is necessary. I've done so with this specific model before, no problem.

What kind of tool can I use? It has dented dots in the silver ring I assume are used to turn but I don't know what to use.
Thx

Got it out easy breezy! Thanks buddy.
So I may just order the 200mW module to replace it. Its $60. This will be a nice pocket sized laser with some power.

Can I get a link to it? The last time I ordered a 200mw laser module for 60 dollars, it was closer to 100 mw.

This one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200mw-532nm...table-for-Waterproof-laser-host-/231063095603

It's a bold lie, they admitted it to me later. It has a tiny driver, the components are too small to handle a 200mw output 532nm laser and they removed the collimation lens assembly from it, only the expander lens is present. If you complain it isn't really 200mw, they will offer to appease you by sending you the rest of the laser for "free".

I ordered some 100mw modules which looked just like that one from them a year ago, but they were listed as 100mw laser modules, so I wasn't disappointed. I don't believe they will do 200mw, by the looks of it.

Edit: I'd be happy to be wrong, maybe someone here has purchased them and confirm their output power. Looking at the current at 4 VDC, that's close to the same current and voltage some of my 70-100mw 532nm lasers are pulling. The IR diode is probably 200mw output, that's probably where they get the rating from.

Why do you say from the looks of it they don't do a 200mW? The description says 200mW and its twice the price as the 100mW.
Well, well see I just ordered one.

edited to add- I mean obviously sellers lie but Im hoping for the best.

OK, if it is, I will buy one for that price myself, hope it is. It's just that it pulls the same current at the same voltage of some of my other 70-100mw 532nm lasers which are very efficient. They are probably bins out of some lots of 100mw lasers which do a bit better, I'd be surprised if higher than 125mw. A lot of these sellers depend upon buyers not returning the items due to the cost of shipping back to China, or that the buyers don't have laser power meters to know. I've bought several lasers from them in the past, not one of them were as advertised, all half the power except for three 100mw lasers which looked just like these.

I'd email them right away and tell them you have a laser power meter and not to send it if not truly 200mw 532nm output, without counting the IR component. They also depend upon the people who do have LPM's measuring both the 532nm and IR together, giving a false reading higher than the real green output.

Damn. I would hate to have paid $60 for a 100mW. Now I have buyers remorse. thats a lot of money for me.

I could be wrong.... email them and tell them you have a LPM and need to know that they are as advertised for 200mw of 532nm output, not counting the IR component, to cancel if they won't meet their specifications. If they have half an amount of ethics, they will cancel the sale. I don't think these sellers are the hard core screw you kind that some are in China selling lasers, from my dealings in the past, but almost everything I have purchased from them before were advertised at twice the real output.

The only ebay seller in China I have never been screwed by their over specifying the output of lasers is techhood, and the one time this particular seller sold me some 100mw 532nm lasers which actually put that amount out, but that was the exception, all the rest they sold me were half the power.

I just did that while you were writing this. I said I have a LPM and if this module doesn't measure 200mW plus or minus 5% of 532nm I do not want it and to cancel the order.

I've made purchases in the past and asked to cancel right away, from China laser sellers and they ignored it and sent it anyway, other times I've cancelled and they were willing to cancel. It's a crap shoot, hope I am wrong and they are what they advertise, but at that current, I doubt it.

One thing I noticed and this may be good or bad but I noticed they use the same picture of the variable power unit and module for 100, 150, 200mW. So lets just hope they are lazy.

Excuse the double post, but please look at this, see the current? It's not that much different for a 100mw rated laser pointer:

LZBH - 532nm 100mW Focusable Green Laser Pointer

Edited to add- Yea but the spec states <100mW. Less than.
