Take some pliers, and rip out the top part, it is press fitted. Then I imagine you could take a pole and bang the module out.

Take the front cap off, put something softish under the back of the laser, get a 10mm wide rod ( steel/aluminium), stick it in a pillar drill and then press down into the housing ( with the drill off )

the module should then slide out the back end :)

Just a tip, the module WILL not come out the back of the pointer! You have to push it out the front, as they put some plastic inside the barrel to hold the batteries better.

I'm having a hard time getting the module out. I watched the video and have used a utility knife attempting to loosen the head. But it won't budge. I put it into a vise and all that did was scratch up the edges.

Question: If I use my Dremel moto-tool with a cutting disk to cut away the metal tube will the heat damage the LD? If I cut in short bursts and allow it to cool would that be okay? How sensitive is the LD to vibration? (That cutting disk spinning at 8000 RPM can cause some vibration. )

Problem solved:
Use one pair of vise grips on the module end and one pair down where the batteries would be (of course, take them out first). Hold where the batteries go so as not to clamp on the LD heat sink - which is what I was doing at first.
Get a good grip and twist slightly and pull. Mine came out after just a bit of a tug.
