I made a little video tutorial on how to build a powerful blue laser in a C6 host, using a round driver and a diode/module from DTR.

This is nothing special, but hopefully it'll help some newbies who are confused about the building process. This is about as simple as a portable DIY build can get, except from solderless kits from for example bitlasers.com or survivallaser.com.

The video: (if the text is hard to read, open it up in youtube and resize the video)

If you liked the video I would be grateful if you could rate/comment or even subscribe :)

Nice. Can't get any simpler than that. Should make a good guide for noobs who seek to build their first laser.

cant wait to build one of these, ordering parts tomorrow, thanks for the vid, great work!

edit* just wondering if this could be made with green laser instead of blue? would i be able to just use a different module or would i need a different driver as well? thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Hey,

Nice video. I would first solder the leads to the driver and after that screw the outer black piece onto the pill then secure the heatsink and finally screw the top cap on.

This way you have more room to solder and i would add to that that i would use shrink tube on both wires, just in case.

Greetings,

What is the current on the driver btw?

1A-1.3A will get you 1W~ with a 3 element lens

Yeah moh still has a few c6 heatsinks just no hosts. And of course drivers. Check out his web site.

Alright :) One last question, I have this exact laser... Any way to set it to infinity mode (so the dot remains small 2ft away or 15ft away)?

ANND... What's the spring for under the focus adapter? (is it necessary)

Its a shame that the C6 casing & the driver board for this particular build has come from Dealextreme, when i say has come from Dealextreme i mean has been ordered, paid for & has been fully shipped & after over a month of waiting it still hasn't arrived. Very, very, very disappointed in Dealextreme to say the least. Has anybody else had problems with long waiting times?, in my opinion its the long delivery times that lets them down.

P.S. anyone know where i can find a named brand (such as sony, panasonic, etc) of the CR123a 3.6/3.7v rechargeable batteries?.....................& dont tell me Dealextreme :-[

Sucks about the waiting times with DX, I've had the same problems. Their shipments seem unrealistically slow! I luckily ordered my C6 kit with a heatsink and preinstalled driver from Mohrenberg but he doesn't sell them anymore :undecided:
