We're going to have to wait a little longer for me to adjust the heatsink, the package I got today, was MXDL hosts. The sku 46 host, shipped on 7/25/08.

But you can be sure that the heatsink will be fit for it, and that the build will be the same as this tutorial. Because one member already did it with my heatsink! He told me that everything was the same, except he had to use a Dremel tool to trim the 'lip' on the I.D. of the host (where the heatsink slides through and sticks out)

So you can order the sku 46 hosts! :D

What I mean is, you won't have to do any other modifications, because I will have the heatsink adjusted soon enough! :)

Oh, ok!

By the way, please keep the specs for the original design, because i found a seller on eBay who has the "original" host (the one i bought from you some time ago).

I think I'll just make myself on of these! :) Do you have the correct measurements for your heatsinks to work with this flashlight? http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.46
I want to make one so bad :D

EDIT: Where can I buy 6 silicone diodes? :-?

If you send me the light, I can adjust the heatsink. That way I can have the correct heatsink dimensions for that light from DX.

The silicon diodes are here:

Thanks for the link. Could you do me a favor? If you're not busy would you buy that torch from DX for me and sell me some silicone diodes if you have any spares along with a heatsink for the torch? Just trying to save some shipping costs :) If you think I'm trying to trick you or anything, I could pay you for the torch first.[/quote]

I got the DX sku 46 host today and it is basically identical... it will be the same exact tutorial. There is a very slight difference...

sku 46.jpg

The very front, where the heatsink protrudes through, is a little smaller in diameter. Also, the total distance in the head, is a little longer.

So, the heatsink will be adjusted to fit, and this host can be used to follow this tutorial exactly! ;)

Note: The heatsink will be .050 in. longer at the back (inside the host). This is to compensate for the slightly longer distance inside the head space of this host.

freshert, if you want this host and heatsink still, I have only done a very little part of the mod. I have trimmed the thin washer. (see pictures at the beginning of this thread)

Can you send me a measurement of the diameter of the very front hole and the length of the head for both hosts (original and Sku 46)? I would like to identify my flashlight...

I guess you did not buy it from DX??

The length of the heads, measured from the outside...

Pocket Pal (blue) - 28.8mm

DX sku 46 - 30.7mm

Inside diameter is the same, except for at the tip, where the heatsink protrudes through...

Pocket Pal (blue) - 23.3mm

DX sku 46 - 21.5mm

Yeah I'll pay you for the heatsink and the DX light. Could you send me an invoice? I'll send you my paypal email address by PM.

Recieved my hosts today, and I must say they look really nice! :)

Just one question though... What would a heatsink + shipment to Sweden cost?

EDIT: And also... Would a DX module fit in it?

Yes, they will. I have already built a laser using this host, and it turns out very nice!

Notice, i put the heatsink in backwards :p
It turned out nice, though, because it was more flush with the host :D

Yes, this module fits. (this tutorial uses only the front of the module):
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.5914

$4 bucks will cover shipping and handling to Sweden. Total - $27 dollars. PayPal: jayrob@inreach.com
