Oh ok...

I went ahead and put a link to my lower power version near the top of the first post. That way you can go there to see my settings on that one as well! :)

Are there any other websites you know of that have a large selection of enclosures? I'm trying to find a clear, pocket sized enclosure with a hinged lid. I checked Digi-Key and most were too big. A lot of the rest had compartments. I guess I could cut those out?

I only checked DigiKey. (link in first post)...

But they have a ton of different enclosures and stuff!

If you got to hammonds website, it's much easier to find what you want from their enclosures selection.

HERE is their site.

This looks like a really cool project, with lots of room for your own ideas. I already have a PHR sled lying around so I will probably just get the heat sinks. What kind of modifications would I need to make to the sled to have it fit the heat sink setup? Are all the optics required for the complete build present in the PHR?

Yes... I used only the PBS cube and the turning mirror in the PHR sled.

Take a look at the first post for some good details and build tips! :)

The kit by sightfx (linked there) is a must have! I mean, it can be done without it, but you will definitely want the kit...

Its tempting to go all out and get the driver setup too (once it becomes available), but I think ill stick with the basics and go with a standard 7 color, once I get the funds together. I still have assorted other projects to finish, so hopefully this awesome kit will continue to be available in the future. But it is definitely on my to do list.

Well, I can tell you that I was (am) very happy with just the 7 colors...

The combining of the beams is a really cool project. A lot of effort in getting the right power combination and especially the perfect alignment. It's a project that made building lasers a completely new experience again for me.

The more effort you put into a project, the more rewarding it is when you succeed! This is the one that fits that bill!:)

It sure will be available in the future. I'm not going anywhere and for the time being I am working to perfect and expand the options for White Fusion builds. I found the perfect LiPo cells to make a nice fitting power packs for the clear hammond enclosures we've been using. I can get 6cells (3seriesX2) in the thicker Digi-Key - HM959-ND (Manufacturer - 1591CTCL) Box giving me 1800mah at 11.1V or 3cells in series fit in the slimmer Digi-Key - HM958-ND (Manufacturer - 1591BTCL) box for 900mah at 11.1V. They will power FireMyLaser's driver+controller real nice.

I also have tutorials comming for 3way rocker switches and a 3X LM317 drivers on a proto board that will fit the smaller box and should lower the overall cost.

Hey Jay...What acrylic glue do you use? The one I tried blushes the plastic a bunch. I found some other stuff online that is supposed to keep that from happening but I thought I would check with you and see what you use.

Thanks,

Ryan

I use E6000...

I posted a picture of the tube, and a link to it's specifications here:

So far the build ideas have been 7 Color Pointer, 7 Color Spiro, 16 million colors spiro with 26 programs! Rainbow, strobe, color wash, rambling... and last but not least 24 million color projector laser for a scanner setup. "I like the Flex Mod drivers for this option":D

If you are going to make ready your own sled; Here is a pic for the sled modifications I make.

If thrifty is the way you are trying to go you can also do without the Nut and bolt hardware and fasten the mounting washer to the sled with epoxy or something similar. I personally think they are worth it but they do cost time to make.

Thanks,

Ryan

I think that's one of the coolest things about your design!

That 'hollow bolt' mounting that lets the beam go through the bolt...

Great idea! :)

this is extremely interesting, i have one question:
Is there any way to incorporate any other powered lasers?
like maybe add an IR?

Thanks!!

Would the IR simply be for power? As it's only going to be a dim red color, even if it's several watts in strength.

Not with this build...

It's using the PHR sled, there are three spots to attach lasers to use the optics to blend the beams. (see first post)
