ok, so like in the title, this is a tut on how to make the shorting pin and keylock on the alpha series useless,

the uses of this mod are that the safety switches that you override are actually overkill, appature and 3 sec timer are way enough(imo)

WARNING: this could be irreversible, so don't do the mod without knowing what you're doing, and its not my fault if this mod breaks your laser, and all the other stuff

first take the battery cap off and if you look inside, you should notice that there are 2 holes in the white plastic bit, take a small drill make the holes bigger, and then use a plier to screw the plastic bit out

it should look like this, jsut that inside the silver bits used to be black coating which you also have to get rid of(file or something) this is required to make the contact between the small copper bit in the plastic and the cap, instead of going through the keylock and shorting pin

now like in the next pic put a piece of wire, if possible not single strand, braid or whatever its called in the circular bit so that it's long enough to touch the unprotected metal that you "freed" before

well thats it, put the plastic cap back on and you're done, hold it upside down to prevent the copper bit from falling down and put it in the way you took it out

well thats it, i'll be making somemore photos later, and plz comment(1st tut and i know it sucks... :D)

reason i did it was cause zthe cap was broken, and finding the keys pisssed me off too

Awesome, thanks for this. I'm gonna do this because my safety interlock is buggy, it makes the laser flicker and dim out sometimes because it has poor contact.

Thank you!

Could you do this so the key would still be needed but the safety pin could be left out?

That would be optimal.  My safety pin is the part that is most annoying, whereas I rather like the keylock.  I suppose it would work if you found the contact for the safety pin and shorted that, instead of the entire cap.

PS: It would be AWESOME if anyone could find a way to bypass the 3 second delay.

The 3 second delay is probably in the circuitry. If so it would be very risky to change it.

Yeah... Correct me if I'm wrong (I probably am) but I think it's a capacitor? If so I assume that it would be very risky to modify it, but I've heard that you can pay nova $50 and they'll take off the 3 second delay.

couldnt you just roll up some tinfoil and stick it in the cap? or maybe a flat, round peice of metal as long as it was touching the edge of the cap?
