What some members are touching on are rather complicated and large optical assemblies. Use the search bar at the bottom of the site and search the term 6x C lens.
Another option depends on how secure your module is in the gun. Sanwu 3x beam expander. This would allow you to set the focus on the internal lens once and make adjustments to the convergence distance by the beam expander. I have them on 90% of my handhelds. This would provide the results you are looking for without having to poke at the internal lens you have. They only come in stainless steel so you would have to match it to the hosts theme somehow. I can put up some pics to paint the picture if you need.

emorrison, are you using still the 3 element ebay lens that you say is putting out a crisp rectangular spot at 15 ft. I would think a 3 element even at 15 ft. would correct that rectangle a bit as it does on my M140 or A140's.
You say its a 2W 445 and even 1W should pop a balloon with the spot crisp. No disrespect but are you using black balloons?
Other than the sensitive focusing that easily turns into what you say is a blob it does seem to focus tight. Something kinda isn't adding up.
This doesn't need corrective optic's and even if you wanted to I couldn't see how on that module.

Yes I'm using the 3 element lens. I think I've got the focusing down now that I've cut the heatsink down to add a focusing ring. I can focus it to a crisp bar at 15 feet and the bar will pop a balloon at that distance after a few seconds. It is an m140 diode. I'd like to pop at greater distances and more quickly if possible.

Ok it took me a while to dig up exactly what lens I bought and it's a 405 G2. From researching this forum it appears that this is not an ideal lens for getting more of a dot out of an m140 diode. Apparently the G1 lenses "clip" the wings somewhat and the aixiz 405 glass do the best job of producing a dot at slightly less power than a G1. Is this the same experience that everyone else has with these diode/lens combinations? I'd like some other opinions before buying another lens even though they're cheap.

It occurred to me that someone asked what color balloons I'm using and I never answered. I've used black and red; the red appears to pop slightly faster than the black although it may just be my perception is off.

You can use lenses that clip the beam and so on - but you lose power. That's the trade-off with these diodes, if you want a better beam you need to sacrifice some power.

Ok, that helps answer some of the confusion. That's why the rectangular spot. As for another lens, now I would go for a true 3 element that are actually cheaper. This 3 ele. should give you a tighter spot and less beam spread over distance and yes you will loose some power. Keep the G2 as its really the go to as far as power. Between these 2 lenses is really what I think you need and can swap back and forth to what you prefer. It looks like you fixed found a way to focus and change them. Just be careful with dust or anything in general getting to the diode while changing.
Black balloons should pop better but it could be in your mind like said or just the red balloon is very dark red?
