Hey Jake.... you have an auto-ranging DMM...

Put it on the Blue "DC mA" scale near the bottom left side... ;)

BTW... your camera sucks.... ;D ;D

When using the test load, you don't measure current directly.  You measure voltage across the resistor.   You would use the DC mA setting if you were measuring current directly by placing the DMM in series with the power source.

When using the test load, set your DMM to "DC voltage" (battery load test) and measure across the resistor.  0ne mV = one mA of current.

Peace,

WHAAAAAA !!!!

Jake don't set it to "DC mA" .....

phoenix3200 is correct.... you might hurt the driver...
My Bad..... :-[

Set it to "DCV" at the top right hand corner.....

PS... Dave you must be typing with both hands and all fingers...
I just can't respond fast enough using only 1 finger... ;D

You would not have blown your driver on the mA scale.... your readings would just
have been wrong...... ;)
Sorry about my first post Jake... :p

I talk and type for a living ;)

Talk about "tunnel vision." I didn't even "look" at the "AC side" of the meter :-[

The DCV setting would work much better ;)

The "battery test load" setting was just the best choice I saw on the "DC" side of the meter

Peace,
dave

That has got to be one of the weirdest meter faces I've ever seen... took me awhile
to find it too...  :p

Interesting Meter, I see they have separated continuity and diode test, on most meters I have used they are on the same setting...and why put maDC in between those and ohms, very strange.

Interestingly enough, I also have that same meter. The dial layout is a bit odd, I agree, but it works. I bought it for ~US$15.00 on amazon.com, and was a bit skeptical given the price, but I've gotta say it's been a great little meter. Highly accurate (compared to my Fluke) and well built.. Never heard of iEquus or Innova before, but I'd buy another one for sure. Maybe even before I'd buy another Fluke meter..

Yeah... Just because the dial is odd... doesn't make it bad meter....

And I like that it is auto-ranging for that price you mentioned...
