Howdy all!

I just picked these up on fleebay for a pretty fair price. For $150 I got two units and a controller.

I'v looked high and low for any information on these units and found nothing yet. All I know is that they are using 10W fiber coupled diodes. One has the PSU included in the unit so I plugged it in with the controller and fired it up.

It does turn on!(a good first sign)...There are some lights on for error I was hoping someone with a bit more experience than I could shed some light.

All the buttons 'seem' to work. The reset seems to reset...the output power nob does turn up the current. When I switch the shutter to open, I see a quick flash of laser light then it fades out. Also a strange thing the display on the controller goes dim when I switch the shutter to open.

My question is about the +/- 12V and +5V....there are some connections on the side of the unit(I show it in one of the pictures) Not sure what they would be for and what they would connect to?

Enjoy the pictures and hopefully someone here can give a bit of help.

Thanks to all

Here is the side of the unit with the connections....not sure why they were not connected in the first place, or what they go to...but they do seem to show up on the controller as an error?

The lights are neat looking! Plus a big o'l fan!

It should be around 10W of 808nm IR....I don't have a fiber link for it, not even sure which kind I would need as far as connector.

On the plus side I think I have a chance of getting it going. The TEC for the diode seems to be working as well.

Also upon looking a bit, it seems the +/- 12V may be to power the controller board. If I press the shutter open by hand the light on the controller shows green, so I think the control board doesn't have the power to keep the shutter open.

Okay so I found the ONLY thing I could on this unit.
A picture of the unit missing some of the parts I have but explaining some of it.

Seems the controller board converts the 24V to the +/-12V and +5V. This still doesn't explain why the error lights are on.....also i'm not sure what the error light OPT INTLK means.(optical interlock perhaps) but not sure what that means. On the back of the controller there is an interlock plug and it has a connector so seems fine.

Feels like i'm very close to getting this fired up. If anyone has any information on this unit or could venture a guess on what is going wrong it would help a lot!

So nobody with electronics experience can venture a guess here?

I put my DMM on the +12 and -12V pins in the last photo above and got 24V out of it. Very confusing.....seems that the board is getting power of some kind, but i'm not sure why I would be getting a reading of around 24V off the two 12V posts....as well as why the controller shows an error on the 12 and 5V.

Those voltage numbers are reference to ground, so you have 12v between +12v and ground, and -12v between -12v and ground, 24v if you go from +12v to -12v

MMMM....So it's reading correctly. I wonder why I am getting an error than. Are those posts for measurments or for connecting you think?...Everything seems to be connected, of course i'm not sure, just seems complete.

It may be looking for a fiber to be connected to the unit, likewise it could also just be broken, hard to say.

I actually just got the OPT INLK error light to go off.

I found some fiber to connect to it and that's working great. I do still have the error lights for +/-12V and +5V....not sure what that means. Everything seems to be getting power.

They are labeled TP7, TP8, TP9, and TP10. An educated guess would be that they are test points that you can use to verify that the board is making the correct voltages.

Thanks BShanahan14rulz, I finally did hook up my DDM to it. They are for testing the output of the driver.
As for the unit's I think that they both have dead diodes. I took apart one of the units and am using the cooling block and a new diode array that is working great!

The other complete unit I would like to get a similar diode array(around 10W) and give it a try with the controller. There are some on fleebay for sale right now, but i'v been hemorrhaging my laser budget lately.
