Spartan laser lens issue

I have used the search function and have tried many of the methods suggested to other users of this site with no success. I cannot seem to get the lens clean on my 1W spartan. The spatter is so much that I cannot use the laser at all and as a matter of fact there is no dot just mainly spatter that is slightly brighter in the middle. I am not new to lasers but this is the first time i have had this issue. How do I clean this thing? I have tried the laser brush, alcohol and acetone methods and each time it only makes it worse. It almost looks to me as if the crud is under the lens but i have no idea what would have caused that. I do not do any close up burning and I always keep the laser stored with the supplied cap on it to keep dust out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

i had a similar issue with my 135mw yob build. I couldn't get it clean worth anything. And today I tried a paper towel and twisted the corner so it was really skinny and i wet it with my tongue (very little) and scrubbed it kinda hard and then dried it with another corner and it worked pretty well.

Come to find out, the hard way of course, the spartan uses an acrylic lens:thinking:. The acetone did not agree with the lens and i ended up replacing it with a glass lens from survival laser for 7 bucks. I would suggest anyone who has a spartan to use the cleaning method described by beta or use low concentration of rubbing alcohol.
